Soldiers of Magic: Serpio

I recently purchased this product and have been unable to render it's effects with Iray. If I change the render mode to 3Delight it works and emits light and color as shown in the promo images.

Is there any way to determine if this product only works with 3Delight?

I will need to return it if the special effects cannot be reproduced in Iray.

It was released in 2015 and in the description it says "DAZ Studio Material Presets (.DUF)" which usually means 3DL only. It might be possible to get it  working in Iray, but I don't have it and have no way to test.

By default, Serpio is 3Delight only. It can be made to work with Iray, but it requires a certain amount of tinkering. You'll need to apply  the emissive shader to all the object surfaces and turn down/off the point lights that are in some of the chain setups (and if you're using the point lights, remembering to shift them to photometric).

This is Iray. Like I said, doable but work.

What I did was add the prop, posed it, selected surfaces on Surface tab, added Emission colors, values, and transparencies... and rendered with some bloom and depthe of field:

Wow. that looks so cool nemesis10.

And thank you for explaining vwrangler.

I requested a refund for this product because I've only been using DAZ Studio for a few months and I started with all Iray, which I love.

Not much of a tinkering sort here so I will stick to the Iray products.
