dForce Swim Suit looks more like a dress

So I purchased this product

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-swim-shorts-for-genesis-8-male-s

And did a test render with a Genesis 8 figure and the swim trunks honestly look like a dress. What am I doing wrong?

See attachments, for promo images, and my renders (last two).

Von Hobo, you need to run a simulation after you pose the G8M figure.

Here I've simulated the shorts on the left, leaving the right pair unsimulated.

    OK. Thank you Dragonfly.

But of all the many items of dForce clothes I've purchased, this is the first item that doesn't look good by just loading it.

Sorry, but I'm not even sure how to run a simulation. I guess I have some homework to do.

Do all dForce wardrobe items require simulation?

Pretty much, that is the point of Dforce. The difference between dynamic and dforce is Dforce has rigging and will fit like conforming clothes. You can usually get dforce items to work without Dforce, but they will always look better with it since they were designed with it in mind.

A couple of places to start for dForce: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/203081/dforce-start-here#latest

    and https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/208141/how-to-use-dforce-creating-a-blanket-draping-clothes-on-furniture-and-much-more-commercial/p1

But keeping it simple, try this: load your figuure in Studio, add the dForce clothing, then pose the figure. Now, if the clothing touches the floor you need to add a simple floor (like a primitive plane, exactly at ground level).

Now find where your dForce panel is and hit the blue 'Simulate' button. And wait (make a cup of coffee or something).

If all went well, your clothing is draped, and you can remove the plane, and add hair, props, etc.

    Have fun wink

    Thank you Dragonfly.

I will try your instructions and read the links as well. Much appreciated!

Some also work as "regular" conforming items, but not all. And simulation is what makes the cloth drape realistically so you'll get much better results.

Thank you Leana. That explains a lot of issues I've had with some clothing. Now I know I need to run a simulation.

To be honest, I like the simplicity of the wardrobe items that are not dForce. But I can see why it has it's benefits.
