Problems Exporting to OBJ from 3dmax and importing to daz studio

Ok so I am not an expert with either DAZ3d nor 3d Studio Max. However I am not exactly a newbie either. I have exported 3D Max files as OBJ's many times and imported those OBJ files into Daz. HOWEVER! I have run into this problem a few times before and not been able to solve it. Usually I can find some work around but this time I'm at my wits end! So here's the problem in a nutshell. I open the MAX file in question. It looks great as most do, I then do my export to OBJ, I usually use the DAZ Preset, but also get same results trying others including Poser and Lightwave. I get no errors durring the conversion. However when I load the OBJ into Daz it looks like sombody poked triaglar holes into every curved surface. Now this does NOT happen every time with every model. Some modles it happens all the time. Some models it never happens. Is there some export setting I need to set to stop this from happening?? Or is it bad quality in the base MAX model causing the issue?? If anyone can help me solve this I would apreciate it greatly!

It's usually either the smoothing groups acting up or the mesh. Somethimes DS doesn't like tris and other days quads..
try this, when you have it imported into DS, go to the surfaces tab and using the surface selection tool, click on a surface. Now scroll down ion the parameters tab towards the bottom and there is a slider called ANGLE and slowly move it down and see if the mesh distortion goes away.
Thank you very much, that did the trick!
Awesome, glad I could help! Looks great!
