DAZ Big Cat 2 question on Iray

https://www.daz3d.com/daz-big-cat-2

Does anyone know if this product is Iray?

Lately I have purchased a few products that I had to return because they are 3Delight only, and I was told the easiest way to tell is to look for the word "Iray" in the product description to know the product can be rendered in Iray.

However, the DAZ Big Cat 2 product page does not mention Iray anywhere.

Any help on this would be appreciated. I'd like to purchase this but want to be sure it's Iray first.

Iray materials are included as part of the core product which you have linked to, with the information in the Readme files: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/16288/start

There are other products as add ons, including LAMH fur that can be rendered with https://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair-free-player if you ever want that.

Oh my gosh. I have to look at those readme files from now on to be certain.

    Thank you Dragonfly!

I did see the other products too. I purchased the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer so that I can render fur on the Red Fox, but I have not used it yet. So much to do.

I never thought the animals would be this complicated. :)

Be forwarned.  The LAMH products are both addicive & system intensive. The Catalyzer versions perhaps a bit less so, but that's due to it not creating geometry as does the LAMH versions when it creates the hair objects. Render quality-wise, I don't know if there's any visible difference to be honest.

Why return products that are not Iray. In my experience, most 3Dlight products work fine in Iray, maybe a little tweaking here and there, but easier to go from 3DL to Iray than vice versa

Thanks mdwhitney. I will definitely keep that in mind.

Thank you FSMCDesigns. I think the first couple 3Delight products are purchased were environments and they rendered a completely black screen. It took me a lot of effort to find out they were 3Delight products and so I returned those. So I guess I was assuming that nothing that is 3Delight would render in Iray. But I guess you are saying 3Delight props, animals, etc. will render in Iray?

The reason for the black screen is because there was a geometry skydome which blocks the light in Iray. The easiest way is to use the diffuse image for the skydome in the Iray Environment map and delete the skydome from the scene.

    Thank you Fishtales.

Ya, that pesky skydome.  I usually just hide it as I'm gonna put in an HDR anyway as Fishtales mentions.

I did pick up Stonemasons' The Streets of Morocco and the Camera_01_Morocco is inside geometry & renders black.  Fortunately that wasn't the first one I checked out so new Iray was working.  Figured it out but suprised that a commercail product would ship like that.

    Thanks mdwhitney.

I've only been using DAZ for a few months, so I am partial to the Iray products, although many of the 3Delight renders look amazing. I like the way the Iray renders fade in vs. the blocks on 3Delight.

But it's nice to have a workaround.

    Streets of Morroco looks amazing!
