GPU Rendering Problems

I had a gtx1050ti and was getting a scene rendered with 2000 iterations in about 2 hours; I recently bought a rtx2080. I am rendering the same scene with a different pose and the time actually took longer. I looked at a video about iRay performance and they said to test out renders and see which is faster; so I went to the advanced tab in render settings and unclicked my cpu so the render should be done solely by the rtx2080. When i click the render button it starts its set up but then the render stops and asks me to save or close render window (no resume higlight). If i reclick my cpu then the render works (just long render times), so I'm pretty sure that I am doing a cpu render instead of a gpu render.
Shouldn't I be able to render with just the gpu?
btw. It's a new gpu but drivers are all updated.

Is this using the Release build of DS (4.10.0.123)? The version of iray in that doesn't support the 20x0 cards. If you use the Public Beta (4.11.0.236) then it shoudl work, and be faster, with recent drivers (note that the 418.x drivers had issues with iray, however - 417.71 is good, 419.x should be good but some have had issues).
I agree with Richard here,
I just bought the RTX2070 video card (yesterday), which is based on the same tech and found that the Studio 4.11 Public beta is best. It's been around a while and from my personal experience it is stable and is actually faster than the 4.10 anyway...even while using my two 960's.

I am using Daz 4.10
I loaded 417.71 from Nvidia and still getting the same thing, renders stops the moment it starts gathering data. Guessing it is the card, I am going to put back in my gtx1050ti later after work and see if I have the same problems.
But does over 2 hours for 2000 iterations seem like a long time? new to this. Does it seem more like a cpu render?
Make sure that you download the GPU drivers directly from Nvidia.
If windows installs the GPU drivers from windows update, your GPU will not have OpenGL compatibility.
Once again, OpenGL support only comes with drivers downloaded from NVIDIA. You need openGL for Iray to work with your GPU
Yes, it's the card - 4.10.0.123 will not sue the 20x0 cards, the Public beta will so you can install that (if you haven't), copy over your content directory settings and render away. If this is your first beta then you may want to use these scripts:
