Sorry if this is in the wrong thread! It seems relevant for all Daz users though.
I recently purchased the following item from the Daz3D store, located http://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-sport-time-for-m4hiro4 with the expectation to be able to use it in Daz Studio.
As a relatively new user to the site and software I completely overlooked the Supported Software box on the front page (but never again!). Unfortunately after trying to figure out for over an hour why the clothing I purchased couldn't be "fit" to M4 in Daz Studio, I found a thread that said dynamic clothing *props* are a Poser only feature. It was only then I went back and noticed that on the front page of the item description that Daz Studio was not listed.
In short, I think that if a product is not supported by a developer's software and is listed in the store dedicated to the developer's software there should be some sort of user friendly warning when purchasing the item, and would like to suggest a feature like this for this site.

It says on the product page compatible software Poser. You can always return it
Happens to the pro's on occasion too. Since the DAZ store support multiple platforms, there is a filter in the left panel of the store product browser that allows you to filter by application compatibility. Do not worry, you can exchange/return purchased products here within a month is it does not work out. Because DAZ Studio is is in general backwards compatible with older versions and even Poser 6, however since then the two apps do diverge a bit and implement dynamic clothing and subdivision differently. Similarly the DSON is also a filter - for a tool that converts certain DAZ Genesis products to Poser compatible. I believe there is a plug-in for DS to accommodate Posers method, however I dont have it. UPDATE: Wrong on that plugin, See next post.
DAZ has an excellent return policy, so you can return the item and get a refund :)
Check the "included" list, too. There are some items, for example Powerage's recent prop sets, that might technically work in DS but don't come with DS materials (making them much more time-consuming to use).
On the materials, the phrase to watch for in the "What's Included" tab is "Some materials may require adjustment in DAZ|Studio". There will also be no mention of D|S file formats.
Note, though, that this isn't an absolute mark of Poser-only-ness. Some Poser materials work moderately well with only minor tweaks, some can be made to work just as good as they do in Poser, but it takes a bit more effort to reverse-engineer the materials setup, and some materials are entirely made using Poser-only features and will need to be totally rebuilt from scratch. You won't know until you try: fortunately DAZ has that 30-day returns policy, in case you get something that you just can't do anything with.
