Is there a way to install content ... such as morphs from ShareCG through DIM or does DIM only work with DAZ orginated content? Also ... I need to make sure it is accessable through Poser as well.

DIM can only install content packaged for it, which is not the case of 99% of the content available outside of Daz.

  • Just out of curiosity ... how does one package a product to take advantage of DIM?

There's actually a product that can pack 3rd party content for you, not sure if that helps? https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist

You can use the Content Package Assist mentioned by BeeMKay, just understand that the items won't appear in Smart Content, just be in your Content Library as if you manually installed it.  Smart content would require your creating your own products (smart content support files).  A future update to the content package assist is supposed to help create the smart content but according to the vendor, it isn't done yet.  That being said, I use the Content Package Assist to install everything, including products I purchase from other stores and it is fairly quick to create the DIM packages with it.  Here is the vendor's forum discussion for it:  https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/80336/released-content-package-assist-commercial/p1

The easiest way would be to use the product BeeMKay linked to. It's probably also doable to create it manually for a simple package if you have reference doc and/or another product zip to get inspired by.

To give you an idea, a DIM zip contains 3 main types of things:

    • The product files themselves, grouped in pre-defined folders: for example all the content files are supposed to be in a "Content" top directory, with the main "Runtime", "Data", "People"... folders directly in that directory; files for a DS plugin are grouped in a "DAZ Studio" folder, and so on.
    • A "Manifest.dsx" file which lists each file from the package with its path in the zip and tells DIM what to do with it (eg this part is a content file and should be installed, this part is install files for a DS a plugin, this part is a script to run when uninstalling, ...) .
    • A "Supplement.dsx" file which gives additional info like Product Name, what kind of items it contains (eg Plugin and/or Content, ...) and tags for the content in DIM (eg what program it's for)

There's also a naming convention to respect for the zip.
