Windows 8.1 Update Caution

Poser 9 and 8 are not compatible with Windows 8.1. Smith Micro has released a patch that fixes the problem for Poser 10, but have told customers they feel no obligation to provide a workaround for earlier versions of the program.

Once you update to Windows 8.1, it's is nearly impossible for most users to rollback to Windows 8. So if you're a Poser 9 or 8 user, beware.

I wonder why they won't work with 8.1. Poser Pro 2012 works just fine.

Good to know as I'm going to have to get a new computer next year.

Did they release a new SR for Poser 10 & 2014.

The 2.2 was the last one I downloaded and Windows 8.1 Compatibility was fixed I think when the 2.0 one was released.

Speaking of software updates some other companies will not be having 32 bit versions of newer updated versions of programs and are going to drop support for 32 bit versions completely.

Quick edit to add some other info:

Users are resorting similar 8.1 comparability problems with Windows 8.1 and other Smith Micro software. Anime Studio i not working on 8.1. according to some posts I've read.

When it first became publicly available, I searched for other's reactions to the 8.1 update. At the time it looked to me like all the bugs hadn't been worked out yet. Besides that, I'm pretty comfortable with working in Windows 8 now. Of course, the only 'app' I use is Mahjong. The Start screen doesn't bother me a bit. Just hit the 'Windows' key and select a program or do a search. I haven't had a single BSOD in the six months I've been using it. (*crosses fingers*) If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The only Smith Micro software I have installed is Manga Studio EX4. It works just fine in Windows 8.

As far as I know, no one's had any problems with Windows 8. I love both Windows 8 and 8.1 so far. I'm just lucky that I run Poser Pro 2012 and was already using the external library.

I was going to answer your earlier post, but you seem to have figured out what other of us are thinking: it seems like the problem is something to do switching to an external library.

No one is having problems with Windows 8. Only Windows 8.1 has the comparability problem.

And yes, I've heard that Anime Studio won't work correctly either. No word on Manga Studio so far.
