Hi, After painting a 3D object, dress in my case, is there any way to get the obj back in Daz so I can save as material? I paid directly on the obj file and not on the 2D layers.
Thanks

You would need to export the painting as an image or images, then apply the image(s) to the surfaces in DS and save a materials preset. What application did you do the painting in?
I have adobe photoshop cs5 and I opened an dress obj and painted directly on the obj. But I can't find anyone to export the image to add to daz. Then I remember there was a bridge and was able to open the obj from daz using export as U3D to open daz obj in photo shop. However I can't get it obj or image texture back into daz for the life of me. No sure where I'm going wrong.
I'm looking at getting a 3d painting software and trying to make sure that I'm not missing something in adobe before investing in another program. All I really want to be able to do is paint on some of the clothing obj I have instead of having to design on 2D flat surface.
Thanks
Kimberly
If you select the material you have painted on in the 3D pane the Properties pane will show various settings, including the maps applied. If you click the little thumbnail/menu button next to the Diffuse (or other) map you will get a menu - choose Edit and you will open the image as a new document which you can then save as normal. This is the first time I've poked at the 3D stuff in PS, so there may be quicker routes.
Thank you. I had to use open texture instead of edit but it still works great.
Thank you for this thread -- I'm still trying to figure this stuff out, but THIS post was the most informative so far!
Thank you!
Heck, I've got CS5, and still can't get the Studio>Photoshop link to work at all. Good to know this works.
