LAMH Chimpanzee

I fell in love with the LAMH Chimp and bought him. I own the catalyzer, but could never figure out how to use it. I bought the chimp anyway, determined to figure out how to get his hair working. I looked at the LAMH discussion thread, along with some documentation and I just can't figure it out. I have no idea where to even start. Can someone give me simple instructions on how to load the chimp with hair and render him? I tried and one attempt caused a crash, the second attempt froze my system. Simple instructions please!!!

After posting this I saw another post where it was recommended that you render in 'safe mode' to avoid crashes. I tried this and it worked!
