I'm really not new to DAZ. But mainly just maid digital art with it. But lately, I have wanted to export some of my characters but having a problem. How do you export a charact with props and clothing as an .OBJ file or .FBX. I just can't seem to get DAZ to do it on either Genesis 2, 3 or 8. And is there a way that you can export them as a single mesh with a single texture for all... Thanks. Sorry, I didn't know quite where to post this...

You could reduce the number of textures to one with texture atlas the little world globe icon,

FBX will never be one mesh but all can share the skinning under advanced options

obj depends too on options chosen in export dialogue as to whether separate meshes or one group

THanks Wendy!  Would you happen to know what options I would need to select for exporting as an .obj.

Why would you need to export any of your characters?

There are many other programs where you can use DAZ  characters. Unreal Engine 4 or something similar.

I have actually exported FBX with all the Clothes etc without changing any settings. The problem then is
you only get a T-pose exported. But in Unreal Engine you can Repose the figure.

cannot open DS to look but you  can untick the by name, surfaces etc options, if atlasing the textures probably don't need surfaces as no overlapping UV's

I was just curious so I might be able to help more. I have 6 modeling apps installed, two game engines and 4 renderers, so I am well aware of what there is other than DAZ

Different things but mainly because I want to animate a short movie and making everything one mesh with one texture would load quicker and render faster as I am not going to photorealistic. And I do not want DAZ to take up time reading every little piece of prop or section or piece of clothing. And I do not want to go into DAZ and change this around and that around and keep this from doing that when basically the easiest thing is to just export it as a single mesh with a single texture and then bring it back into DAZ Studio.  I am not as knowledgable as most with DAZ even though I've had it for nearly as long as it's been in existence. SO by the time I learn how to switch this and that around or on and off then my creativity has been lost and then I just lose the will to then create.  THANKS, EVERYONE FOR THE COMMENTS!  And thanks for the interests, Michael. I really really appreciate it. I could use all the help I can get.
