saving scene subset with character does not save shape

This concerns v 4.10.0123 Pro 64-bit edition with a genesis 8 female character: When I save a scene subset consisting of a figure and some props and then reload it later the character's shape has reverted to the original. It seems that I actually cannot save the shape changes to the charater that I have made in any way other than a full scene save. I've tried every single save-as type and nothing saves the shape changes.  The problem is I want to save the character with its shape for use in other scenes. Is that not possible? What am I doing wrong?

I've seen answers to other questions regarding shapes where a morph target is to be saved and then reloaded applying it to the new character.  I see absolutely nowhere to save morphs and to load them.  The supposed morph loader does not appear to exist for me.

Are the shape chnages dialled in using add-on morph sets or are they custom morphs imported from a modelling application or spawned from dForms?

You can merge a full scene, by the way  -File>Merge, or right-click on it in the content panbe and select Merge into Scene.

  • Thank you, Richard, for your reply.

These are morphs from an add-on package, "Killer Legs 2.0 Morphs for Genesis 8 Female."  I know about merging scenes. When I do that I likewise lose the shaping.  If I load the scene with character shaped as wanted first, they disappear upon merging a new scene. with no character in it. If I load the scene with no character first and then merge in the scene that has the character with correct shapes, those shapes are lost upon merger.  The only way I can get the character back with the modified shpes is to load it in the saved seen then add nothing else to it.

Is this really the was 3D studio is supoosed to work?

No, that sounds very odd. Do you get the same if you use diffrent shapes, just as a test?

  • My content management data base and libraries were all fouled up to the point where I could not find anything.  I thought perhaps the shape problems were related.  I completely unitalled all my DAZ products, deleted all the daz folders (except, or course, the ones with my content, which were not in the place Daz recommends) and deleted every reference to DAZ in the registry. Then I reinstalled everything from scratch and that solved both problems. Now shapes are importing with the figure.

But that has left me with quite a different problem. I'll start a new thread on it, since it is not clearly relaed to the problems I resolved.

Thank you so much, Richard. I do not know what we would all do without you.  You have helped me and many others, many times in the past. I for one would be completely flumoxed by Daz Studio and hardly able to use it if not for you and your wisdom on the program.
