All free stuff on DAZ are useless textures-Why??

Most of the so called DAZ 3D freebies on Daz are textures that requires you to
buy the orginal product. Thats called a sneaky business.

Either give the stuff away free or remove it completely!

As you pointed out DAZ is business, they don't have to give anything away.

Sometimes they give the base items away for free without the textures, too. Diabolical!

    It's a product you don't pay for, so yes, it's a freebie.

Plenty of other free content out there. sharecg and mostidigitalcreations come to mind.

They are useful if you already have the required product.  Some people do not buy the extra textures but appreciate the free ones of outfits they already have.  I do not always buy clothing textures for outfits I own but the free textures for those outfits are great for me.

Sometimes I get the free textures for an outfit I do not have (yet) but put that outfit into my ever growing wishlist until later.

In my opinion a useless texture is something that is for a retired product I never got and unable to get.

By default, the store hides products you already own. There is a check box to "Hide Items I Own" and if you click on that box to remove the checkmark, all of the currently free products will be displayed. There are 13 this round, including one set/environment, one G2 character, three outfits, one hair, and two props products. There are also three textures. (And Reby Sky Magnet Fit, whatever that is. I've not been doing Daz long enough to know what Magnet Fits are!)

Many of the items come back again and again. But every now and then, Daz includes some really nice products. I've gotten a lot of bundles I'd never have paid for, but which have provided some decent pieces for kitbashing. Sure, the freebies on this page are always older content, but they are actual Daz Originals products that many of us have paid money for in the past. And they can be used in your commericial projects. I'm not sure that any other site does that. (The freebies on Renderosity, for example, are shared by the creators, not the store. And many of those have a Non-Commercial Use license. Technically, if you use one of those in a contest and win, your usage just became commercial!)

I've been shoppping here for over 4.5 years, and this morning I put four free products in my cart of items I didn't already own, and only one of those a texture, (I already bought the base.) Sometimes the bi-weekly freebies have wonderful surprises, other times, I have everything listed that I want. (And sometimes, I grab a texture for a product I don't own and wishlist the base. Then when I see the base show up for free or heavily discounted, I know to get it, too.)

If money is tight, (ain't it always?) learn to model. Even if you never learn how to create clothing, shoes, hair or characters, you can make your 3D budget go a lot further if you can create your own props. And when you get good at that, branch out to make sets, furniture and so on.

Hexagon is currently free, (I paid for my copy!) It definitely has a learning curve, but I've been able to use it, albeit very rudimentally. I've never gotten past the first screen on Blender, also free. However, there are PAs at Daz that do all their modeling work with Hexagon, so I know it's a very capable program. (I'm the one lacking! lol)

Sigh, the Age of Entitlement. Allow me to add to what has already been said by those responding by saying, "Thank you, DAZ3D, for your generous gifts". I've been around awhile, and yet, of the 13 items offered, there were 4 I didn't already have. Only one was a texture package, the other three were standalone items. Score. One way to guarantee that someone will cease being generous is to look a gift horse in the mouth, as the saying goes. So, once again, thanks DAZ!

Maybe DAZ could also remove all the items from the store that I personally have no interest in. That would make me happy.

There are many items offered on the website for free in various areas. If you are wanting to build up your runtime I would suggest taking a look at the Freebie Forum which has links to various Free items for Poser and DS from all over the internet: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/freebies

Also of note, while not entirely free, PC Membership comes with the perk of weekly freebies as well as lots of other benefits for members on a tight budget. For more information see: https://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-plus

In addition to the above, there are various times where items within the store that are free for a limited time as well as those that are free forever. To find all the free items currently, try going to the main store page and then sorting the store by price from low to high.

I hope within the above suggestions, you will find the things you are looking for.

On that note I am going to lock this thread as the discussion is somewhat circular and I think most of the options on where and how to find free items has been covered.
