Guides to Geometry

Picked up "My Camel Camelia HD" https://www.daz3d.com/my-camel-camelia-hd and didn't realize that the hair for her is actually Fibre guides. Works great in Daz, but those won't export via FBX. They will when using OBJ though, but the reulting geometry is pretty dense; over 21K polys for one eyeball!.
Is there a way to convert or Freeze them to geometery for FBX export?

They aren't fibre guides - they are either guide hairs from Garibaldi Express or Look At My hair, both of which have options to export to OBJ (though since neither is listed as a requirement I suspect not) or they were perhaps modelled in an external application as hair and export as OBJ from there. The hair is, as I recall and as I read the product page, a separate figure - that may be why it isn't exporting to FBX.
They aren't LAMH and not familiar with Garibaldi Express. They look like geom and are in a separate Instance node (if i'm translating my icons correctly) but they aren't instances. Once in the Surface Editor, they list as Fibers. In parameters though, resolution level is set to High rather than base, so that might be a factor. I'll do some tests I guess.
Well, the creators aren't native English speakers so Fibres for hair isn't surprising - a surface name doesn't indicate anything about function, it's just what the surface group was called.
Right, that's why it threw me. Used to AM's products & how the Rman groups look. Good news though, turning the Res to base resolved the issue. Not only that, each item (Camel, hair, Saddles) comes cleanly into Lightave as separate layers. Yay.
Yes, the camel fur is just a figure with geometry fitted to the main camel. You may need to use the combine skeletons option in the FBX exporter, as you would with clothing.
So it's in the export porcess rather than some baking step I need to do in Studio first.
I'll look for that; using FBX2012 here's what I used:
Would that be the Merge Clothing into Figure Skeleton in this case?
Yes, that's the option I meant
I'm getting all the geometry exporting, but only the base shape is taking on the pose. Tried Export all vs Bake all and FBX2014 and getting the same results. With rules set to Export, I get morph channels but they don't help; they aren't keyed or such
Odd that exporting to OBJ works w/o much effort, it just ends up with a lot more geometry which is why I'd like to figure this out. Am I missing something obvious in DS?
I'm sorry, I have almost no real experience exporting via FBX.
S'alright. Appreciate the info passed on. There's a fellow over on the Newtek site who most likely is & I'll seek him out.
