Hello,

How to copy the pose of the right hand on the left hand ?

Also, how to work with members symmetrically ? For example, I am on the right hand also on the left. I tried with the selections but I can not :-(

Thank you.

    It's called Symmetry in the Parameters drop-down menu (or Shift+Y)

    I saw this window, but I did not understand the operation. I use various options in this window, but the result seems inconsistent. Members move in all directions ...For example when I want to raise two arms forward : one goes forward and the other backward. So when I want to close the fingers of the left hand in a fist, the fingers of the right hand open ...I can not have a working mirror.

    Thank you.

    Example: right arm forward and you want to mirror this on the left arm. You select the right arm and then you open the Symmetry dialog window.

    Check the following:

    Nodes : selected (this only mirrors the body part you have selected)
    Propagation : Recursive
    Direction: Right to Left (because you want to mirror the right arm pose to the left arm)
    Trunk Nodes: Mirror Y|Z Rotations

    Click accept and it will apply the right arm pose to the left arm.

    If you want to mirror a complete body pose you would check *Root* under nodes and under Direction: Swap Left and right. For Propagation and Trunk Nodes you use the same settings as explained above.

    I can not, pfffffff :-(

    After entering the settings, when I "Accept" the right arm passes into the body of Genesis.From there, when I get the right arm forward, left arm goes back and when I get the right arm to the side, left arm up halfway and locks into position, even if I move then the right law.

    Did you use any of the Pose Control sliders on the root node ("Genesis")? If so you will need to manually reverse them, swapping the left values and the right for each property you used.

    Hello

    I tested with Genesis and M4 with their original position and it is the same.I tried different Rotate / Shift / Scale in "Symmetry", but it does not change ...

    I feel that the options "Symmetry" do not act ...

    Thank you.

    In your screenshot you have the left collar selected but your settings are right to left - it should be left to right if you want the right arm to take the pose of the left.

    I can't get it to work either, on Genesis or Genesis 2.

    I have tried all combinations. I am using DS 4.6.1.17, 64 bit. It seems to be a bug.

    Don't change the defaults except the Direction (as appropiate) and un-check Translation and Scale. Nodes = Selected Propagation = None Trunk Nodes = Leave Alone

    Yes, that works for me, thanks jetsmart!

    I have no problems with Symmetry, I always use it for my pose sets to offer a mirrored version of each pose.

    Here's a test I made with Genesis and one of the included base poses for the male. No problems to mirror the pose properly.

    Besides that, when looking at the screen with the figure facing you - left and right on the figure is not left and right as you are looking at it but the opposite. So, your right side is the left side of the figure. Hope I didn't explain this too confusing LOL

    Hello,

    I think I did everything I could ... But nothing comes out correctly. I even uninstalled and reinstalled DS, sometimes there was a bug ... But nothing changed ...

    Whatever options I use I still have the same result. As above it does not work (...).

    Where can I see the tutorial on symmetry in DS?
    Can be applied in a practical example I understand that does not work, or that I do not properly...

    Thank you.

    There is nothing that I know of on Symmetry, even in the latest user guide.

    I couldn't get it to work either, but I was not selecting ALL of the parts that I wanted to be Symmetrical. If you want to mirror a complete pose, then you must select:
    Nodes = Root
    Propagation = Recursive
    Direction = Swap Left and Right
    Trunk Nodes = Leave Alone.

    That works perfectly for me.

    If you only want to mirror one limb, Left Arm for example, then you MUST select ALL of the arm in the Scene pane, from Left Collar to Left Carpal 2 inclusive.
    Then use:
    Nodes = Selected
    Propagation = Recursive
    Direction = Left to Right
    Trunk Nodes = Leave Alone

    The image shows the result of only using the Left Arm for Symmetry. If you still cannot get it to work, please tell me what figure you are using, and what you are trying to do, and I will see if I can do it, and post images.

    This is exactly what I do, the result for me :

    - When I move the left arm down right up brad.
    - When I move the left arm forward the right arm moves backwards
    - ....

    I did some tests on Genesis and M4 is the same problem.

    Finally, I would like to work, positioning fingers on the right hand M4 and reproduce the same positions on the left hand.

    So I asked myself the following question : Can we copy the pose of the right hand on the left hand ? And vice versa.

  • Just wanted to say Thanks for this post. I know its old but still works perfectly :)
