Lighting in Bastions bar
I'm sorry if this is already covered, but 8 odd hours of poking, and I'm frustrated. I'm using the Bastions Bar, I have turned on the spot lights, I have aimed them, I have played with the luminence, I have played with the beam length, I dont seem to be able to get them to illuminate the scene. I know I am probably missing something really simple, but I cant find it. help an idiot out?

First, don't be so hard on yourself.
Second, don't wait so long to ask for help. Stress is not good for creativity…!
Now, are you using "1stBastion's Indie Scene Venue Bar"? I don't have this set, but I may still be able to help. Are the spotlights you're using part of the set? Or are they native to Daz Studio, (top menu Create->New Spotlight)? If the latter, it's important to know that some of the settings are for 3Delight and some of the settings are for Iray, (photometric.) It's also important to know that the lights load without enough lumens to light the inside of a thimble!
If you haven't already, I suggest you change the view to see the scene through your spotlights to determine where to point them. You'll be able to see where the light is hitting the scene, and if the spotlight is also selected in the scene, there will be some guidelines visible as well. Now with the spotlight selected, go into the Parameters and look for Lumens. The only setting physically lower on the list is for Temperature. Now crank those Lumens up to around 10,000. Even that will be a little low, unless the light is close to the subject, but it is a decent starting point.
With all the spotlights aimed where you want them, with each having Lumens set to 10,000, either set your Viewport Draw to Nvidia Iray if you have an Nvidia card, or go ahead and render the scene through your camera, (It won't work if you're still viewing the scene through the spotlight.) You don't need to let it render for long, maybe 100-200 samples. You just need to get an idea of how much light the scene is getting so you can adjust the Lumens for the various spotlights. Don't be surprised if the main spot goes as high as 50K-60K Lumens.
Let me know if this helped.
Hi,
Yes, I am using "1stBastion's Indie Scene Venue Bar", the lights are part of the set, and it seems only some of them have a lumens setting,... and I have now found that the spot lights come with the "photometric mode" switched to off, which doesnt give you access to adjust the Lumens manually. I think I may finally be figuring out how to fix this problem. thank you very much.
Make sure it is the Iray version you have loaded and not the 3Delight one.
