I have this item https://www.daz3d.com/peasant-dress-for-genesis-8-female-s
I am trying to figure out how to change the colors, as when I load it comes out as white, but the photo is blue with patterns.
So I must be doing something wrong, any clues as too where it might be. I have looked under mesh resolutions and actors
Actor allows me too adjust the dress based on the poses, sitting, kneeling etc
But I dont yet see where to change the pattern/color
Thank you the help

In the directory where you loaded the dress from, there should be a Materials folder. Inside that there's an Iray folder and a 3Delight folder. Choose the right one for what you're rendering and the materials should be in that folder.
Many products don't have materials on them when you first load them into the scene!
I know many "historical" artists use all those complex directory folders, but a really easy way to do this is to use the "Smart Content" tab! :D
Just select "files" instead of products in that smart content, and when you'll select that dress in the "scene" tab you'll find that "color" under the material menu! ^^
Something else you may not be aware of. This program is NOT WYSIWYG. Just wanted to pass that along.
As for clothing color, the Material folders is where you would find your options. But if you don't like them or want to make some changes, you can make changes under the "Surface" tab. Highlight the clothing, click on "Surfaces", then scroll down the options until you see the different color controls. You can make changes there. I'm still learning that trick myself, but I have gotten better looking clothing that way, IMHO.
I didn't hint at that because I didn't want to confuse him :D
Yes, but the best way to do that, IMHO, is to use shaders sets! For example JGreenless has made a ton of them, and they're all pretty cheap (especcially during sales): https://www.daz3d.com/jgreenlees
Just select the surface you want to change in the "Surface" tab, then fin the shader you want there in "Smart Content", and you'll have a great finished texture! :D
