Custom morph from morphed figure

Well, i’ll try to explain this as much as possible. Let’s say I use Gen8 figure in Daz and use some morphs on it (I change face, body etc). Then, I can either save those presets as my figure OR export it. If I save that figure as a preset, the person who I share it with (or even me) needs ALL the morph packages used by that figure.

My goal is to create a custom figure out of it so I can apply those morphs without extras (if I reset my library or something). Maybe achieve a single custom morph that changes head/body at once or to apply that figure directly. Either way is fine.

I searched for similar topics but couldnt find any. I hope there is a way.

TIA

You could create such a morph by exporting the resulting shape as obj then loading that obj as a morph with morph loader in DS.

    But:

    • you wouldn't be allowed to share it unless those morphs are merchant resources which specifically allow this. If you used regular morphs you are actually supposed to share a preset so that the person using it needs the original packs.
    • there are drawbacks to combining them in a single custom morph: if some of the morphs you used as part of the mix triggers some related corrective morphs (eg to correct posing or expressions) you would lose those when using your custom morph as they wouldn't be linked to your new morph
    • it wouldn't work for HD morphs as only Daz PAs have access to the tools needed to create HD morphs.

Thanks for your reply. I am not intending to share them ATM as most of my packets are not MR. Hovewer, I quoted some of the things I didn’t understand fully.

The first point is conpletely too complex to me :O

the second one: HD morphs. I’ve never heard of them before. Does this have to do anyrhing with HD figure? Also, what is daz PA?

    thanks

For the first point, I usually use the George character as an example as he has a very different shape from default Genesis male figure so the problem is quite obvious: when you pose George you have special corrective morphs applied automatically so he bends correctly.

If you create a character using George morph as part of the mix, DS recognizes that George morph is used and applies the corresponding correction when needed. However if you export your character as obj and import is back as a new morph, then when it is used DS won’t see the George morph used, only yours. So when you pose him the corrective morphs won’t be used automatically, and you won’t get a result as good as with the “combination” version.

This will be less visible if your character is not too far from the default shape, but it can still be problematic.

PA is Published Artist, which is the name given to people who sell content in Daz store.

If you look in the store you’ll see quite a few characters called “some name HD”, and “HD add-ons” for the named figures like Victoria 8. Those use a special kind of morph which works on the subdivided mesh, giving you more details. You won’t be able do keep those details when converting the character to a custom morph.
