Hotkey to quickly select important/frequently used objects in a scene?

Is there a way to hotkey characters, props, nodes, etc... so that you can quickly jump to them?  Navigating with the scene menu is just horrible, I'm really hoping this is a feature.

Also... favorite paramaters just disappear when I'm using another character/prop.  is this intended?

    Hi jeffpaw :)

Find that item you're using a lot, and then right click and "Create Custom Action". That way you'll put it in the scripts/favorites menu, and you could even make a shortcut for it customizing your workspace ^^

Are you wanting to jump to items within a scene? Custom actions give quick access to a file, such as a prset, rather than having to find it in a content pane. There are commands for selecting particular types of item, but that grabs everything (in the Scene pane  option menu>Select sub-menu). A script can select an item - I have one that may help in this set https://www.dropbox.com/s/z6ceaiasl8ll5u6/RHSelectionTools.zip?dl=0

Favourites are set for the local scene - if you want to retain them save a Scene Subset or Character Preset with the favourites and in future use that to load the figure.

Are you talking about moving between items already loaded in the scene? Or finding items in the Libraries to add to your scene?

Yes, afaik. Favoriting a parameter is specific to the object selected. However, there is filter field above the parameter dials. If you need to change a specific parameter on several items, you can isolate the parameter by typing letters into that field. I frequently type "opa" into the field so I can view just the opacity parameters of the selected object(s), (works for both Iray and 3Delight materials.) You can, of course, type the full word, too.

  • Any luck with this? I would love to be able to jump from one character's head to a hand or garment with a hotkey. Was Richard's script helpful for this?

I have a related question. In Poser you can select an object or a body part and then hold down the shirft key and no matter how you futzed with moving around in your scene that object or part remained selected. Is there a key that will do that in Studio?

Unfortunately this only adds the item to the scene, it doesn't select it.

Looks like the zip files are only for Daz 2 & 3.  Do these work with 4.10?
Even so I'm out of my league here... Which script exactly?
Can you briefly describe how to utilize a script to select a particular object in the scene?  Would be very useful!

    Not yet lmao.

    Indeed it does, jeffpaw!

Then I guess there's no solution yet :(

I wasn't suggesting using the scipts as is, and yes the DS 3 versions did work with 4.x last I tried, but taking them as inspiration - the one for selecting nodes by label, for example, shows a lot of what you would need to select a specific bone of the selected figure(s).
