GENESIS: The film.

Hello everybody!
After a few years of work, my animation movie is finished.
The title is "GENESIS" but it has any Genesis figure in this one, Generations 3 and 4 only.
The original version is in French, but my friend Ooseven made the subtitles in English.
You can see it on Carrarators forum, I can't post it here because of the TOS (Tap Of Stick).
This film contains nudity, violence and could run counter to numerous religious beliefs.
So, here is the link to Carrarators, your comments are very welcome:

Thank you in advance!

PS: If you know someone who could translate the subtitles in another language, I'll be interrested...

Amazing!  Two enthusiastic thumbs up.  yesyes

Love the little details like the reflection in the vehicle's rearview mirror.  Enjoyed the story arc, if a little dark - no spoilers!  My goodness, how long did it take to render?

Oh wow DUDU, that is tremendously awesome!!

Great animations and effects. I'll have to watch a couple more times, I really enjoyed sitting back and watching this first time through. I think I saw a few clips you were working on a few years ago, now it makes much more sense.  smiley

Indeed, we are doomed. The tremendous amount of cruelty humans heap upon the beautiful animal kingdom is sickening...the floor of Hell.

Bravo for the all your efforts and helping keep Carrara alive! Cheers

An incredible effort, DUDU!  Any words I use to describe it here will fail to grasp the magnitute of your acheivement.  If there is a "must see" Carrara video, this is it.

It is thanks to all of you who learned me so much things, here and on Carrarators, that I can achieve this work!

Thank you for this kind of words!

PS: I must leave now, my wife come back from the casino and I must prepare the dinner...

Congratulations Dudu !  Amazing achievement and deserving of first place in the competition [ which you haven't mentioned ]

Your movie is a ' blockbuster '. I'm not sure you could have included much else - Seriously - who would attempt  to animate an EARTHQUAKE !!!  Collapsing buildings, cracks opening in the ground , Fire,Smoke,  CROWDS running in panic. Underwater divers and monsters . As has been mentioned by others the detail is amazing . It  should be watched  a few times to appreciate all this.

    Well Done Buddy !!

Sehr gut, DUDU!  (The only other language I know, a little)  The large scale crowd/disaster scenes are especially impressive.  I don't see any familiar models from DAZ, Rendo, etc.  Did you build them?

As I said in response at Carrarators: Bravo! I loved the story, it's message, and love the techniques in Carrara... really cool!

    Hi!

Thanks a lot for your nice comments, it makes me want to begin a new one! I'building my new "Home Studio" on Windows10, after that, I'll see!

That should be difficult for you to read and look the images at the same time, I'm sorry for that because I'm not rich enought to pay English peoples to speak in the film...

I would like to find some translators for the subtitles in Russian, spanish, German, Dutch, Japaneese etc... If you know a friend who can do that, I'd be very happy.

@Ted: "How long it take to render?":  Impossible to say it, so much tests and corrections, but the main work is to build a scene: sometime it takes one month for maybe 3 seconds...

@Stevek: "Did you build them?": No, for the characters, I play a lot with the sliders for the morphing.

For the rest, I use of existant items, but I must often break some parts and I built a lot of things myself too.

@Dart: I hope to see your film in progress very soon!!!

    Thanks again!

Actually, the subtitles were very easy to read and understand, and positioned perfectly.  No distraction at all.  0oseven did a great job.

Neither am I, that's why I avoid dialogue.  Sometimes actors show up at the kickoff meeting for the 48 Hour Film contest, wanting to be on teams just to make a movie, and sometimes they offer to do the voice acting free.  But lip syncing takes too long  ... five minute animation in two days ...

Me too. I don't have enough time to model with a lot of complexity, but some things... I just can't help it... I either build it or can't have it! LOL   Otherwise I try to use content I buy or get given to me.

Absolutely! I loved the lower-contrast font for them as well... very nicely done! Plus I really enjoyed hearing it in French. I don't hear that much French - I realize that now! ;)

While at Carrarators, I was reminded that I've always wanted to find some time to write some stuff in this awesome Carrara Animator forum, so I did at least get a start on a few subjects that I hope might help some folks:

I noticed that there weren't any topics in the Keyframing/Graph Editor portion, so I started a subject: Graph Editing aniBlocks Rocks!

...and that led me to writing a new General Animation topic: Daz3d AniMate2, which I think is a fun little article to help folks know a little more about these awesome tools. I need to expand on this, but it should be a fun start.

Also, in the Making Movies category, I started writing Movie Making - VFX (Visual Effects) along with adding some extra tidbits in the topic on Low-Resolution Figures

I'm really glad that 0oseven has created such an amazing hangout. I hope to spend a lot more time there.

    Rock On CARRARATORS!

    Rock On CARRARATORS!

    what he said!

Even if for those of us who can't yet engage in our dream projects, but lurk enough in these wonderful communities to keep those dreams alive.

This goes for the Carrara Cafe as well!

And not to derail the conversation too much, @DUDU, your film is wonderful and serves to inspire by showing what can be done!

Mechanically, the subtitles were not distracting at all, and the sound music must have been good, because I was immersed enough not to notice or be distracted by either the vocals or music - the content and production levels/quality were spot-on - bravo!

Thematically, so long as I'm amongst the landing party in the new world, I love the idea of a fresh start. :) Great way to present your 'fresh beginnings' theme.

Carrara-wise, OMG - I don't think there's a feature or capability in Carrara that you didn't have to learn and master to pull this off. You've got fire, liquids, hair, vehicles moving and exploding, smoke, spray, physics, and figures, TV screens, portals, ... lol! Amazing work, and I don't even want to imagine how long some of those elements took to learn/test/produce.

Thanks for sharing this with us - more inspiration!

    Bravo,

    Agreed! All of it!

I loved all of the sounds and sights as much as the story itself! Cannot say "Bravo!" enough!!!

@Mindsong:Thank you for your analysis, it is true that I learned much things in Carrara, but if a function is not used regularly, one must each time learn it again, without counting that there is a lot of new plugins which are created by several very brilliant members!

@Dart: the sound is my main passion, I love to compose my own musics, to make the sound effects and the mixing/mastering.
My new Home Studio is finished today and the sound quality is impressive because Cubase accepts the VST(i) in 64bits only. A dream!

It is sad that there is not many people who are interested by animation, but I understand that it's a very long work for only one realization and it is less artistic than the still images. I admire SteveK for his very fast work in two days, and with an excellent results!

    Welcome on Carrarators!

Thanks, DUDU.  I think it would be tough without Carrara, in particular the NLA clips.  I now have a pretty large collection, mostly from imported mocaps saved as clips.  All the character motion in this 3 minute animation (not a two day video, which has to be 4 minutes minimum) used clips:

I'm impressed with SteveK's talents as well. So cool. Great storyteller!

Wow... I would love to one day own a nice sound studio and have Cubase behind it all! My cheap DAW works for the time being. My singer has all the pro gear I could ever want, but getting there is the thing. I do my best work when I in a zone in my own Carrara office.

With my drumkit now being digital, and with full midi capabilities, my home sound/music creation abilities have really grown, I do need better mics, but I can always borrow good ones for now. So I have my voice (I make many sounds with my own voice), my Fender Stratocaster, an 88 key midi controller keyboard, my digital drum kit, and a huge selection of stock sounds. I am learning Fairlight audio now (it totally rocks!). I love working with sound!

Thanks, Dartanbeck.  The story is the hard part for most 48 Hour Film contest teams, mine included.  Usually there's about 50 videos at the screenings, with only a dozen or so with a really good story.  As I discussed in another Forum, I'm always looking for stories I can steal be inspired by, especially TV shows.  Currently I'm watching "Black Mirror" on Netflix, some pretty good, creative material.  Sort of "The Twilight Zone" for the 21st century.  Many are pretty dark ... surprise
