How to save teeth translation/scale

Okay so basically I've made my model, all is well, but the standard genesis teeth don't sit right for this particular person (ie: I'd like the top teeth to sit a little higher and in more of an overbite) so I select the upper teeth and move them into position using translate and scale options in the parameters tab and it looks great...however I'm not sure how to go about saving their position. They don't seem to save if I do a character preset or scene subset. Or at least the translation properties don't. Scale seems to hold on, but I have to reposition them every time I load my model. And since they're a specific body part I wasn't sure about saving them as a pose or shape preset. I've tried it but maybe I'm missing something since both just seem to point to the morphs for other parts and not the general translation settings. Can I make a morph for this if I can't save them as a preset? How do you single out the teeth for this? I've tried going back into zbrush and attempting to move them into position to create a morph but since they're not a separate subtool I can't see through the head mesh to place them correctly. Any ideas? I'm relatively new to the program.

Hi, I see you are thinking in the right direction but I would create a new Control Property and then use ERC-Freeze to save the upper teeth position and scaling.

Here is how I would do it:

    1. load your base figure from the Content Library into a new scene (some genesis figure I guess)
    2. apply your character/shape Preset (that you have saved to the Content Library before from the other scene)
    3. select the figure and go to Edit>Figure>Memorize>Memorize Figure (this will make shure ERC-Freeze is picking just your changed teeth values lateron)
    4. scale and move the teeth (or load a Pose Preset with the teeth position saved from the other scene - will also work I guess)
    5. right-click the Parameters pane, choose Edit Mode from the menu
    6. right-click the Parameters pane again, choose Create New Property (depending in which area of the Parameters pane you where - the New Property is created there - preferable you will have it under Morphs)
    7. right-click the New Property and choose ERC-Freeze
    8. the ERC-Freeze lists all changed property values of the teeth (and only the teeth I hope so) - press Accept
    9. go to File>Save As>Support Asset>Morph Asset
    10. in the Morph Asset save dialog choose a Content Directory at the top, enter a Product name, then navigate to the New Property in the bottom list and select it with the checkmark press Accept
    11. close the scene - you don't need to save it - load the base character again from the Content Library - navigate to the Prarameters and see if the New Property gets loaded and is working like intended - done

Nice to hear that it worked for you. This was written from memory and there are a few steps with no further explanation so I'm glad you could follow along.

One important thing I forgot to mention and just noticed is the "Type" of the morph/property you just saved. The commands in Edit>Figure>Memorize / Restore - Shape / Pose can be helpful but can work only if your morph/property is set to the right Type: Modifier/Shape in your case. With this you trick Daz Studio by saveing pose values into the New Property but pretend its a shape.

Actualy the issue you had is caused by the fact that the translation/scale of the figure node "upper teeth" is by default threaded as a pose as if you have posed the arm for example. This is why it didn't get saved with the Character Preset in the first place but could be saved as a Pose Preset.

Now with your New Control Property you also need to set it to Type: Modifier/Shape so its value gets saved along with a Character or Shape Preset to the Content Library. Then it also can be reset with Figure>Restore Shape for example.

No need to redo everything, you can also set the Type in the Parameter Settings dialog by clicking the gear icon on the property slider. See the screenshot below.

Since you have changed the morph type now you need to save it again. Try it with File>Save As>Modified Assets (not shure if it will recognize the change) or do it like before File>Save As>Support Asset>Morph Asset with the same Product name and Content Directory it will overwrite the original.

Most important is that you make shure your morphs/properties gets saved with a Default value of Zero. What you save as a Morph Asset gets loaded with the figure everytime and you propably don't want to have the shape applied on all figures. Here in the forum we often see threads about the issue with morphs saved with non Zero default values.
