How does Daz Studio decide which copy of assets to use?

I have multiple Daz content directories. For the sake of simplicity, let's say I have two, one on an SSD and one on a 5400rpm hard drive. Let's also I assume I have a copy of g8f with its default materials in both directories.
I obviously want Daz to load assets from the fastest drive, but how do I know which one it will load from?
I assume that it will load from the directory where the duf file that is used first, and then if it can't find the materials needed it will search other directories in the order they are listed in Content Directory Manager under Daz Studio Formats. Alternatively I suppose it could ignore the location of the duf file and just start at the top of the listed directories.
Does anyone know the order or is it random?

I haven't truly understood your question!
It will load the file from the drive it sits on. And that file tells Daz where the textures etc. it needs are, and if they are not them Daz won't load them at all
Interesting question. I think the answer may vary ... you will, I presume, load the figure via double-clicking on the 'base' .duf file, either via drilling down into one of your content libraries or via an icon in smart content. Daz Studiowill, to my understanding, then go and search it's content libraries for the requested assets to load, build/shape, and texture the selection. Thos assets should be referenced via a relative path name so iy will not matter in which library the required files exist. I do not know the mechanim via which Daz Studio aggregates it's content but, in the search for the file(s) it will stop after finding the first one. I suspect there may well thn be a 'short-cut' that the program uses to do it's next search in the same location, but again I do not know. The order of search should be from top of content list to bottom, and should always be consistent.
However, as I understand things it is not recommended to have duplicate conent spread out amongst yur conect libraries.
DS will go through the directories in the order in which they are listed in Content Directory manager, as far as I recall, and will load the first instance of each file that it finds. For native content it will check for support assets (moprhs, UVs, etc. in all DS content directories but will skip duplicate files without comment as far as I know.
Thanks Richard, I was able to confirm this in the log file. I loaded a duf file that was in a library on an attached usb storage drive and it loaded the assets from my ssd drive instead of the copies on the usb drive.
