Cant handle this?

A question which will probably have some laughing their heads off, but hey ho!
Many items in my content have handles. So far i have tended to ignore these, mainly because i cannot figure out how they work. I assume that they can be used to adjust the fit of the item, but when i try all that happens is the item pans about.
Is there some magic formula?

That looks like the MFD (Morphing Fantasy Dress) for V4.

The handles will only work if it is fitted to V4, then they will pull the dress in various directions, very handy indeed, but not without a figure loaded. There is one for Genesis as well, but it does not have as many handles I believe.
