Smoothing default OFF

Hi, I'm using DAZ 4.7 and 4.10, Win7(64).

I have some clothing items for my characters in DAZ that the smoothing slider is there, but it is always Default OFF. No big deal, I just click it ON before I render.

BUT now I have a render queue and it resets DAZ after each render. Didn't even think about that resetting all those smoothing modifiers to OFF again. Result: Render queue won't work with all these clothing items that default to OFF smoothing.

I have a similar problem with older clothing items. Some of them default to smoothing ON, level 20. Level 20 is way too much smoothing and results in weird spikes coming out of the clothing layers. I used to just set the level to 2 right before a render and problem solved. But if my Render queue resets DAZ those items will reset to default level 20, as well.

    There is a simple solution:

    1. set the Smoothing ON / default ON and levels as you prefer
    2. have the clothing item selected, then go to Edit>Figure>Memorize>Memorize Figure (all properties currently used will have their current values set to be the default value)
    3. save the scene

The Memorize, Restore, Zero and Clear commands can be important some times unfortunately they are buried deep inside a sub-menu.

The shorter way to acces them is by the Parameters Options Menu. Because I use them all the time I've also assigned shortcut keys.

Another option is to have the commands frequently used on the main menu. Have a look at my thread, beside a few other infos how to customize Daz Studio I also provide my "extended Main-Menu" as a download.

Oh, wow! Does that also work for 4.7?

This is not working. Does it matter if the clothing is parented to the model?

I'm pretty shure it will also work with 4.7. You can try it and tell me if its working. I have the download up for two years now but no one told me if they can be used.

This is how the extended Main-Menu in the download will actualy look like its more than just Zero, Memorize, Restore, Clear.

    Customized Extended Main Menu

    How to install

Before you change anything of your Daz Studio interface save the layout Window>Workspace>Save Layout As.

Then to be save also make a backup of your current settings go to Window>Workspace>Customize and press the Export button at the bottom and choose to save Menu / Toolbars / Actions : all Custom and press OK.

To apply the menu from the download go to Window>Workspace>Customize select File Type: Menu (just like in the screen below) navigate to the extracted "DazStudio4-10_SyrusMyCustomMainMenus_1.dsx" file and press Accept.

No it dosen't matter, the clothing has to be selected while you do Memorize Figure, maybe also try Memorize Selected Item.

The color of the Smoothing Iteration slider value you set should turn darker as you memorize the figure.

Found the problem! I had forgotten the padlock (was rushing too fast to try it out)
