Smart Content Panel not working - mac

Hey guys,

This panel is completely empty. It was literally there, I closed Daz for a restart and reopened and it's gone.
So there is no way anything's link got broken or anything, I didn't make any changes to the software or its files.

Most of the articles Im finding are for this problem on Windows, or they are articles pre-DIM.

Can anyone offer help on what I need to do?

I just closed Daz, uninstalled and then reinstalled the Content Management Service, relaunched Daz and its still not working.

This could be many things. The most common thing if your CMS (Smart Content) was working and has stopped working now is a database error. Here is a link to how to fix it on a Win Sys but should apply to the Mac as well I believe...

I hope this helps, You can also scroll up that page for a Link to the DAZ 3D info on the issue.

I'll take a look at that link.
If it helps any, when I navigate to User.../My Library and search for say "Genesis 2" and I click on that folder in the search results, I get "The alias "Genesis 2" can't be opened because the original item can't be found" and my options are Delete Alias, Fix Alias, and OK.

When I click okay there is another folder with the same name that I just clicked on that when I clipck and open this time, it opens and shows the files.

Does that make any sense, or help explain what is going on?

I just went through all the steps on that link to a "T" and it didnt fix it.
Not sure if this helps explain the issue anymore or not.

Normally when you select an item like "Genesis" in the smart content tab under the dropdown under the word "Files" it shows you the name of the item you have selected. See attachment.

In my case when I select genesis, under smart content it says "No selection", Not sure if that offers any more info or if its just part of the same issue,

That just confirms that the CMS is not active. Well in truth the CMS is active but the Database can not be read so it is not finding the item links. Please try the provided help.

    hello,

A couple of question to find the solution.

First off, if you check in the Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor) and set it to show All processes, is ContentManagementServer running at all?

Now, did you install everything to "Default locations", in that case, you can find the Content Manager stuff located in /LibrrayDAZ 3D/Content Manager Service . Otherwise you better remember where you put it, and navigate your finder there.

When you have located it, you will see several folders, databases, utilities, vlogs among them.

In utilities are two applescripts, "Start DAZ Content Management Service.app" & "Stop DAZ Content Management Service.app". If it was not running, try to start it, otherwise stop it, then start it again.

in vlogs, there are log files named something like DAZ Content Management Service_20131102_231222.log

Check the date of the last file, was it just created when you tried to start it?

You can also open the log file with Text Edit or preferable TextWranger (free, google it, great text editor btw), and see if it yells about errors.

Now, if it is running again, and seems to be doing good, start DAZ Studio and check.

Please report back weather you were successful or not, and if not, where it failed, this is useful for further track down the problem.
