I tried to follow the tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYdpH6JeSyg to convert the look at my hair to be able to be rendered in iray. At 3:20 of the video he clicks the "to obj" button. I do the same but after it tries to export, my DAZ3D crashes.

I am tyring to make this work on the Millennium Cat LE.

I am using the free version of look at my hair.

There is a preset for Millennium Cat LE free out there so you dont need to click the "to obj"
Just import the preset, Comb the hair to your liking and render.

That will only work if you are rendering in 3dl, for Iray you need to do the to obj etc.

What are your computer specs? Doing a to obj with LAMH can be very resource intensive.

You must have converted it in some way otherwise it would not render, and it looks nice but looks like it could do with more hair.

Here's one I did using the Hivewire Cat and the full plugin which does some of the work for you.

This could be the problem, 16GB is the lower end of the amount of ram you could need, try reducing the amount of hairs you are using.

Weird I reduced the hair quantity to 100 from 6758 and it still crashes. Is it because the preset was made for the "millennium cat" but I am useing millennium cat LE?

I noticed the part in the product of the LE one that it says it is a lighter version of the millennium cat.

Unfortunately LAMH can be a bit flakey, at the moment I can't get it to install correctly on my new PC, mainly due I think to my set up rather than actually LAMH itself.

I don't know if using the LE version of the cat may cause a problem or not.

Are you using the full version of LAMH or the player?

I am using the player version.

I just purchased this cat! If I can make a render like this, it would be awesome!  This is beautiful!!

    Hi, everyone.....

Wondering why I cannot render the Eastern Dragon's hair in IRay and how can I do it? Had bought it mainly because of the hair...

Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

LaMH hair needs to be exported to OBJ before it will appear in Iray.

Thanks Richard. So good to know I can do that. smiley
Apparently, it is already an obj. and whenever I tried to export and then import it to the scene, nothing appears... it also says there are some maps missing when loading... I had also tried to unparent it also... Daz crashed every time I try to do something with it, like deleting or loading another one...uhmmmm....

I had submitted a support ticket... hope there is a solution...

There is an option to export the hair as OBJ in the LaMH pane, at least for the full version.

That option is in the free LAMH Player too - the extra in the full version of LAMH is to generate fibrehair for Iray usage.

Thanks, I couldn't recall though I thought that there was a way to do it in the player.
