DIM feature request

In the settings installation tab, it would be way quicker and way more intuitive to not have that drop down arrow thing but double click on the thing we want just in the label path box, and then when it is selected it should hi light, and print should come along the bottom saying blah blah is selected.
I bet lots of people have created a path or added one, and just think it is naturally selected when it isn't. Or click not he path instead of on that drop down arrow thingy that says current. it is really counterintuitive the way it is, and makes more locating, scrolling and mouse clicks un-necessarily.

I'm afraid I'm not seeing what you consider counter-intuitive with the Drop Down option. I created 5 paths, named each one specifically, and Current lists which one I used last. All I need to do is click on that Drop Down menu and choose the one I want. Once chosen, Current lists which one is currently ready to be used. How is that counter-intuitive?

The second drop down arrow list is redundant. there is already a list. I have more than 5 items in mine, and the path list is easier to scroll down. Also when one creates a new item in it you would think it would be automatically selected. there are many times when I have created a new item in the list and not realized that it isn't selected. Also when I look at the options in the path and click on one, I often accidentally think it is selected.
I'm glad it works well for you, but i think the drop down arrows is an unnecessary extra step that can cause accidental installs in the wrong place.
Also once you get a lot more items I think it is only a matter of time before you make the same mistake during one of your instals.

Here's my request...FIX this broken program. DIM doesn't work for me. It refuses to install my content.

Hint to DAZ: Bring back the DAZ installers please.

What is DIM doing that its not installing products. As long as you have the proper location set up it should install. Content should go to My Library but not suggested or My DAZ 3D Library which is the DIM default. The location you have entered into DIM also needs to be mapped in DS for DAZ Studio Format and Poser Format

Well, yeah, it happens. So what?

Go to the install tab, change 'sort order' to "Install Date: Recent First" to put the items at the top of the list, select them and uninstall them. Then go back to the 'ready to install' tab and put them where you wanted them. If you deleted then installers, you'll need to download them again, so I usually wait and delete the installers manually when I know I've got things where I want them.

I've done this to myself several times. No big deal.

I've gotta go with Frank on this one - what content isn't going where you want? Is there anything showing in the log? (Click on the gear icon, upper right, and then 'view log', lower left).

I've got software installing to my defined 32 and 64 bit directories, plugins installing to the software, and content going to my dozen or so content directories, as selected for the install.

I've only had a problem once, and that was a piece of software, not content. I guess I've been more careful when installing the over 2,800 products I've purchased in the past 9 years. I never liked the Bitrock installers, and am thrilled DAZ went with zips like every other 3D content seller out there.

I'm at 4,700 downloaded, with 1,800 yet to install - when I figure out where I want them. :gulp:

The 32 bit and 64 bit path definitions are not the way I would do them myself, but it works and I can live with it (I'd do it by vendor and product - but then I've NEVER put anything in 'program files' except for Microsoft products - and now that I'm retired, Windows is the only Microsoft product I run).

Well,a s for the it happens so what, just hit uninstall. it doesn't need to be that way. You may install in the wrong place and not realise.
It would be an easy fix to stop that problem happening altogether.

Knight22179 - can you not use DIM at all? I find it much quicker and easier than the old installer method. There is a learning curve though.

I have since uninstalled DIM but when I had it, I installed it to it's recommended installation (I never mess with that), then I went online and downloaded my products and installed them. Nothing happened. I can't find the "installed" content anywhere in Daz Studio. So, I deleted the program from my computer.

If you'd had DS installed for a while it would not have added the C:\Users\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library. Adding that folder to DS' content directory lists should have been all that was required.

Oh my downloads is a lot higher than 2,800, probably closer to 3,600 (plus matching .dsx files). I just counted how many actual products I've purchased, not counting how many downloads there are for some of those products.

I have to agree with you about M$ products, although I've still been using Excel on a fairly regular basis since I retired.

A feature I'd really love is the ability to sort purchases by category, tag, or figure. Or, at the very least, by merchant.
