G2M is the same mesh as G2F!!!!!

On a hunch I sent the G2F figure to Hexagon, then renamed it Genesis 2 Male and sent it back to DAZ and IT SUCCESSFULLY CREATED A MORPH!!!!!

This means we'll be able to share morphs between the two figure!!!!

Thanks for the info. I should try using Josie 6's poses with Genesis 2 male. lol

Interesting to see in the M6/G2M thread there seem to be a load of M6/G2M specific morphs.

I wonder if this means a true Genesis 2 Base figure is on the way so we can create base creature morphs that automatically port to the Male and Female figures. If that happens they'll have truly preserved the flexibility of Genesis while at the same time giving clothing designers the specificity of independent male and female figures.

I highly doubt it will be any sort of official release but your can make your own hybrid figure. If it will be any sort of official release I suspect a lot of people will be unhappy because they'd investe quite a bit of money in this separate gender brouhaha by that point.

That G2F and G2M are same mesh MallenLane confirmed it somewhere months and months ago so no, I don't think that hybrid figure is on its way. I've already transferred G2F morphs to G2M without any problems.

Well, of course. Both Genesis 2 figure bases are explained to be directly derived from the original Genesis mesh itself. So yes, Genesis 2 is just as capable of being versatile with cross-gender morphs as Genesis 1 is.

    Yes and no.

The mesh is the same (this is genesis after all), however the body shapes are going to be gender-specific and the weight maps and joints as well. So as you can move morphs back and forth, some will not look that good because it is gender specific.

Also, to note, both G2M and G2F have mutual clones of each other and also Genesis and those clones are very easily turned to morphs. With help of those morphs you can deduct G2M/G2F embedded shapes to have non-deformed transferred morphs via reverse deformations.
I'm eager to wait and see how much G2M head and body morphs actually deviate from G2F head and body morphs when you subtract embedded shapes.

I will admit, that is true. some morphs, like the G2F Androgynous morph for example, will look awkward on the G2M clone as I'm sure the reciprocal proves the same.

Androgynous morph transfers pretty well to G2M from G2F, by the way.
Leftmost is 100%, middle is 50% and the rightmost is -50% which gives some nice burlier shape.

Don't miss the other possibilities of a shared mesh:
UV sets can be shared between the figures. I just successfully applied a G2M texture to G2F. It's a simple matter of copying files from one folder to another.

I don't miss anything, I'm using Genesis as my main figure :)

I still wish they'd release a base androgynous mesh like Genesis 1 (complete with the same universal Genesis 1 morphs) with automated morph sharing between anything created on the base mesh and the Male and Female morph. If they had that I'd begin to migrate to Genesis 2. As for now while it may be a better system for creating clothing it is a worse system for creating morphs.

You don't actually need to move any files, just apply a duf preset that sets the uv set and it will load the needed uv set. So you can apply a male preset to the female and it will add the needed uv set to her or female to male to get it on him.

To add to the UV swapping ideas, if you load any of the base textures that came with Generation 6 (Genesis 2) shapes you own, it will add the uv's to the dropdown list in Surface Tab. For example, loading the Gia texture (Tiziana) onto Genesis 2 Male will automatically apply the Gia UVs and add them to your dropdown list. Same thing with Victoria 6 (Belle). Unfortunately, the automatic adding of UV's only seems to work with Generation 6 textures. Loading V5 onto Gen2Male won't load the V5 uv's automatically, nor does V4. At least this cuts out a few steps when using Generation 6 Textures. It works both ways, loading M6 or Base Male textures onto Gen2F will be automatic. Also, Creature Creator textures, which use the Base Female uvs, will autoload onto Gen2Male. If I should be able to figure out how this happens and can figure out an autoload (my term, not official) for M4 and V4, M5 and V5 textures, I will share it in this thread.

    Cheers! Slosh
