Best way to make a clowder of cats

I am trying to make a clowder of cats in a scene.  I had to search what a group of cats are called and found it is clowder.  Well back to topic, I want to create a lot of cats for a scene but they all look different.  I am trying to load one by one via content library (I am using the cat found at Rendo).  I have loaded 7 of them that way but I was wondering if there was an easier way other than waiting for it to load one at a time?

Also would mixing different cat models in the same scene be okay?  I want to add some low rez cats too.

IIRC there's a "duplicate node" command in edit menu, so I suppose you could duplicate one of the cats you already loaded. It creates a copy, not an instance, so you'll be able to edit it independently afterwards.

    I don't see why not.

Truthfully, I would render each cat in different poses with transparent backgrounds, make decals of them, apply to a plane primitive, pose, and rerender.

What are the advantages of this technique compared to using Photoshop?

You can then do all sorts of DOF, you can have the lighting of the scene interact with the cats, it is light in resources, if you use the node for decals for the cats... you can have the cats always point toward the camera if you decide to rotate an HDRI or do other transformation, you can have some cats infront and behind a figure casting realistic shadows....off the top of my head.

A good hearty bowl of New England cat chowder? Lol. It's still gotta be better than that Manhattan stuff.
