    While this is "only text", I am enoying seeing examples of ASCII art on the t-shirts (an under-appreciated art form that I'm not personally good at).

    You can actually get quite creative with “text only” especially some of the extended characters. We used this site for some of the presets:

  • Steve? I've accidentally found a workaround for my problem. The interface is still too big on the 'type message' page making it impossible for me to access the controls at the bottom of the interface, BUT.......... Out of frustration, I reached over and hit the 'enter' button on my keyboard. Voila! it worked! The message appeared. I would still like to have the fix, but I've bested the demon up to this point. (So far anyway.)

    I have never ever stood up for a PA before but I absolutely love this person's catalogue and talent. If DAZ had a rule that I could only buy content from one vendor I would choose this one hands down. I am in California and have never met this PA BUT I own a ton of 3D Universe products (and over 8K others - some dissapointing) but I have never once opted for a return from this PA. Even the old stuff works like a charm. If there is a glitch give it some time to be fixed. You have a 30 day refund option and why I am being so adament is because the art is fantastic. There are PA's you can trust to make things right and this is one of them. If you throw in the towel and later regret it this item will be full price. Trust the support team. Throw in a ticket and wait. If after 29 days you are not happy ask for a refund and you will get it. It's good that you mention your issues here becasue #1. It supports your issues (so screen shoot it)

    #2. It gives the PA and other the opprtunity to help you if you provide specific details. 

    #3. Others here (the supportive ones) will help you through the learning curves if it is due to a learning curve. Also you may want to uninstall the product, shut down, wait until you count one mississipi twenty times and restart your pc reinstall and give it another shot.

    Thanks for the feedback. We’ve been working very hard with DAZ to come up with solutions for the DAZ Connect issues. As of a few hours ago, we have a version that has been tested thoroughly in various setups and is now being tested in the DAZ Connect setup by DAZ staff before we make it live. 

    This update includes a number of changes including a resizable interface for lower resolution displays (that will help you Larry).

    We are really hoping to have all this wrapped up today so that those who have had issues with Message-Shirt-Magic can all enjoy creating fun personalized clothing.

    That's why I didn't give up.  I love 3D Universe products and Steve has been trying to help me by figuring out what is going on.  I never even thought about asking for a refund, I was just going to sit back and wait for awhile before trying again.  I have no idea why it wasn't working for me and was hoping that someone would come along with the same problem AND the solution.  I'm really looking forward to the fixed version.  Again, I think 3D Universe products are the best and I have spent far too much money on them ;-)

    OK - our latest version of Message-Shirt-Magic has been tested extensively by the DAZ staff, and is now live in the store. When run, the version is 1.2.2 shown in the interface so that you can be sure that you have to most recent update.

    The product works perfectly when installed through DIM (Daz Install Manager), Daz Connect or manually.

    That depends how you installed it. If it was manually or through DIM, it should simply be overwritten. If it was through Connect, simply uninstall and reinstall to get the latest version.

    If you clicked a link and it installed itself, that would probably be through DIM. If so, you can ran DIM and select the “Installed” tab. Type in “Message” in the search box to filter the list of installed products and the click uninstall on each of them. 

    Then switch to the first tab (I’m not at my PC, so I don’t remember it’s label). Search for “message” again and select install next to each of them.

    You do need to uninstall first as DIM by default keeps a copy of the installer, so if you simply choose reinstall instead of uninstalling- the product will be reinstalled from the old installer. 

    If you don’t come right, pop me a private message or an email to steve@3duniverse.co.za and I can give you better instructions when I’m back in my studio tomorrow.

    Interesting trivia about that quote you have on that first promo image. It was actually written by Rob Siltanen. In reality, Steve Jobs hated the campaign and that quote/script when it was presented to him (fellow employees recall him saying it was "shit"). Eventually, he begrudgingly accepted it after being convinced it would make a successful ad campaign, and in true Jobs fashion, took credit for it only after it succeeded.

  • Hi Steve. I got the new version installed, but the message page interface is still too large. Whatever was done improved it, but the (I'm guessing) last row is still inaccessible. I'll wait until tomorrow for a reply.

    I downloaded the fixed version of the product but it still wouldn't work for me, the material file couldn't be found.  I d/l 3 different ways and nada, so I installed 4.11 BETA and it worked.  I have a feeling it didn't work for me originally because I was using 4.10.

    Anyway, I'm posting an unfinished picture to show that I did it!

    I may be wrong, but is it possible it is font/op system related? Meaning some fonts appear different depending on the operating systme (because I too have had this result occur when using an external hard drive to open the file in a different pc).  It seems to happen when I use windows 10 to open an older file I made on a different pc.

    This may be related to the language of your Windows installation. The special characters are standard Unicode characters, that are supposed to be standard across all fonts. We obviously couldn’t test those fonts on all possible languages though. 

    You can use the site https://igfonts.io/ to check what symbols work on your PC installation.

    Please contact me via email steve@3duniverse.co.za and we can try some specific tests. The resolution of your display is at the very low end of standard current resolutions. The interface should scale down to that, but we don’t have a way of testing in such a low resolution. 

    We can try creating a version that you can test directly.

  • Thank you, Steve, for your help. I understand that you're a very busy man. What I am having a hard time wrapping my head around, is that my computer (Which is barely 2 years old) recommends my resolution as the desired resolution. I tried changing my resolution and had to have a repairman come out and undo what I had done. After my mistake in making the change, I was unable to open my computer. So you can see how I'd be reluctant to meddle with any resolution changes.
