Question (and Mini-Rant) about Genesis 2 and Gen 6

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I decided not to get involved in Gen 6 until both genders were available. How exactly do I get my hands on Genesis 2? According to the store, I already have the latest version of DS (4.6), but the info for V6, M6, and DS 4.6 all say "Please install the provided Genesis 2 Female/Male Starter Essentials." Where are the Starter Essentials? Do they come with DS or V6? How does this work?
One a more opinionated note, why the heck did Daz ditch the all-in-one male/female/child capabilities of Genesis 1? I was an advocate of transgender morphing since at least Gen 4. The promotional blurbs say something about getting more detailed and/or masculine/feminine shapes, but the Gen 5 figures looked just fine in that department. It just seems like such a step backward! When Genesis 1 came out, I thought "Finally! Daz caught on to what I've been saying all along!" Then they go and split them up again with Genesis 2. Can anyone explain the reasoning here?
Ah, well. Maybe Pdxjims can rectify the situation as he has in the past. Vittorio 6 and Mina 6, anyone?

Genesis 2 will be in your product library run a search, also genesis 1 starter essentials has been updated. I'm guessing you don't use the daz install manager?
Genesis 2 Female/Male Starter Essentials are both free products. If you are using DIM it should automatically offer to download and install them. If you are manually installing them, you can find them in the Product Library section of your account page, as shown in the images.
You don't need the templates and you don't need the PoserCF installers unless you are using Poser.
I myself was quite curious about that question, and for a few weeks I resolved not to use Genesis 2 Female on the practical basis that I could no longer use the child morphs I was so accustomed to using with Genesis classic. However, curiosity getting the better of me and seeing how the mesh is genuinely superior I eventually bought Victoria 6 and the rest, as they say, is history.
The simple answer is that items fit better when they're designed with a specific gender in mind. While a lot of us don't realise it, there are a ton of JCMs behind the scenes of every good Genesis outfit to make it fit better for the androgynous character. The end result is that by splitting the genders up again, things generally look much more snug and character morphs can be made much more easily.
The great news, however, is that Daz are no fools and did us a huge favour by making the two figures compatible with each other. Outfits which fit for one can now work with both, and I'm sure it won't be long before they can share each other's morphs as well. In short, it's really worth the investment. If nothing else you can think of it as an extra tool in your arsenal rather than a replacement for the original. I still use classic Genesis in a lot of my work, and even still use Kids 4 because there's yet to be any real love for the youngsters in terms of clothing or characters.
My advice is to play around with the new figure and decide whether you like the additions. I was hugely skeptical at first, but G2F did the job of winning me over so well that I didn't even think twice before jumping onto the G2M market with the release of Michael 6. Try it for yourself and see how it works for you.
Thanks for your help, everyone! I have had difficulty clothing my V5 characters, so I'm eager to see if V6 is any easier.
Anyway, though it's not too interesting from an artistic standpoint, here's my first M6 render! I've managed to use the V4 for Gen2 utility to apply my old textures and shaders, and this is the result.
An excellent render, I hope you enjoy Genesis 2 and M6
Anikad or anyone else who knows...what do you mean Genesis Essentials 1 has been updated? What have they done to it?
Nothing dire. The zip has been updated to remove the light etc. shaders, which now have their own zip, and I think there have been some bug fixes along the way though I'm not sure there's been anything recent.
DAZ_Jared posted this in another thread, it might help:
Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials now also has a new hair and outfit as well as an environment, for use with the Quick Start Guide.
