So whats the best program to use to edit '.duf' files?

I like being able to edit each material myself. I want to make my own signs here... Who can describe how to do that?

You don't need to edit the .duf file directly - just create the texture, apply it to the sign using the Surface Selection tool and the Surfaces pane, and save as a Materials Preset for future use.

OK... so all I had to do was create the jpg and change the pointers.. that worked. Thanks for your help. Now I can make it anything I want.. sweet!

One thing to watch for, the sign texture will work best if you match the width/height ratio to the width/height of the sign prop. The more you move away from matching the ratio, the more distortion you get when you render. Also, you will get a sharper appearance if the texture is at least twice the size of the sign as it appears in the final render. E.g. if the sign comes out about 400 pixels wide, the texture should be at least 800 pixels wide. Make the texture too small, and the render will look blurred.
