Is my memory. I think that when you hover your cursor over a figure and it highlights surfaces such as say the face as in this screen shot, you can turn off the highlighting function. I actually know you can because at some point in my past i did this, but i cannot remember how. I have spent a couple of days, well odd hours that is, trying to recall how, and searching for the answer without any success. Much of this i put down to the death of many of my brain cells, some to sheer stupidity, but hopefully some kind soul can point me in the right direction....please

I asked this question a little while ago.
Let me see if I can find the answer again.
Because I too have a crappy memory...
Tool Settings pane, under Node Highlighting change the Draw Style to Bounding Box only.
That looks like the surface select tool, your options are much more limited with it, either enabled or not and outline width.
