what else d'you make for a football sunday? (pointy football or round football)

what kind of oil d’you fry your beer battered chicken in?

celery and spinach dip wasn't all that popular. :-/ it's like celery is anti-manhood.

Little Smokey 's(cocktail sausages) in hot sauce and beer, cooked down till it's just a nice hot happy coating, nacho's and salsa .......chopped fruit chunks ,and cheese chunks ,the guys will eat the fruit especially if you have hot &spicey; chicken wings ,hot weinies of any kind, cause it cools the burn ,without them having to whine about the hottness .......oh yeah set out bread chunks with the spinache dip or pretzels(the nugget kind) ......not sure but I think it's something to do with the BIG chunks, nothing dainty or requiring much manners ,pizza will work too

    That is just nasty, LOL.

I usually do several types of chips, wings, pizza or small sandwiches. last week one of the guys brought over a large tub of different flavored popcorn, it was popular. Then again, after enough beer, anything tastes good, LOL.

That's an appropriate question on Grey Cup Sunday... which today is, this year.

A bowl of Beer Nuts, with not too much sugar glaze on them.

Corn chips with three-layer dip (cheese, salsa, and guacamole).

No fried chicken - that's more common south of the border. (The Canada/US border, that is.) More likely to have a steak.

    Sweet potato fries.

And a two-four (case of beer), of course.

Instead of using a knife? you can use a Cuisinart, blender or manual chopper utensil to keep from cutting yourself

I buy them premade. I have done the poppers once by hand but figured it wasn't worth it given the cost of them already made in the store

    ...definitely nachos.

I make my special multilayer batch of Game Day Nachos with beef, refried beans, green chili peppers (Jalapenos don't agree with me anymore), onions, lots of cheeze, salsa, and sour creme, all on homemade tortilla crisps.

Cheezy fries or tots are also good but that's a Wisconsin thing.

...I shred a bunch of Sharp Cheddar between each of the layers then place the whole mess in the nuker for about 30 seconds (long enough to melt the cheese but not soften the crisps), rather than use one of the "plastic" cheese sauces that come in a jar or tin.

Mini pizzas usually go over well. I make them with muffins or bisquits. Slice the the muffin in half add sauce and cheese. Cook at 350 degrees until cheese is starting to brown.

I don't really have any interest in sports (I'm a über-nerd), but I still support the home teams. If I had been home (I was at work), I think homemade pizza would have been good. And nachos. And anything else with cheese on it. Beer for the wife and friends, mead for me (ok, I'll share the mead with anyone who drops by).

And if anyone cares, the Stillers* beat the Browns. My wife is ecstatic. I'm also banned from the living room during football or hockey games; my wife claims I jinx the games. ;-P

(*Steelers, for those who don't speak Pittsburghese.)

Don't fret I did not get into sports until later in life. Never thought I would see the day I would prefer Football over hockey.

...Packers and Steelers in Superbowl XLV.

I had been wanting to see these two teams in the Supernbowl since I was a kid.

    Green Bay won 31 - 25.

For picnic's and parties, I makes what I call Bacon & Tomato bites. I buy pre-made fillo dough mini-shells. I mix up some softened cream cheese with herbs and put it in a pasty bag with a large tip. I cut up cooked bacon into pieces about an inch square and slice cherry tomatoes in half. Then I just pipe the cream cheese in, stick the bacon in standing up and a half of tomato on either side. You could garnish them if you want. They are usually popular when I bring them.
