Why do my script shortcuts keep disappearing?

I don't know if this is a glitch or just something strange with my setup. I've created custom actions for several scripts I use often so they are on the menu under a scripts header on the File menu. They stick for a few days and then they disappear so I don't have any Scripts section on the File Menu. Am I doing something to inadvertently get rid of them or is this a Daz Studio glitch I'm unaware of?

I'm currently using Daz 4.10.0.123 in Windows 7.

They are stored in Customactions.dsx/menus.dsx in %AppData%/Daz 3d/Studio4/ (or whichever version of DS it is). Is soemthing removing/resetting the files (e.g. security software)? Also, is DS perhaps crashing on exit?

Hi, Richard. Yes, I've had a couple of Daz crashes. Will that completely remove the Scripts from the menu every time Daz crashes? or do I just need to make sure to reboot after applying a custom action to the menu bar afterwards? I can't remember now if I shut DS down after loading the custom shortcut or not. I'll try it anyway and see if that helps. As far as I know, I don't have any securty software that should be resetting DS. It's probably the crashes though I thought I'd had it shutdown since putting the custom actions in the menu bar. It's possible I hadn't shut DS down though. I'll try again and shut DS down immediately and see what happens when I boot it up again. Thanks!

To be on the save side once you have setup your custom actions and menus save your layout Window>Workspace>Save Laout As. If something goes wrong with the DS user interface (there are a few glitches) you can reset the layout to the previously saved state that helps fixing issues with the UI in most cases and you don't loose your customizations.

D|S does a lot of stuff in the background when you close it. One of these things is properly saving changes to settings (e.g. scripts placed on the menu) — if there's a crash or D|S otherwise glitches as it closes, these changes might not be saved properly.

Incidentally, these background goings-on are the main reason you should never close D|S then immediately either re-start it or start DIM. It interrupts the background stuff, and may interfere with the content database on the second start. Always check in Task Manager that the running instances of a process named "postgres" (this is the database, and there should be several of them) have closed before trying to re-start either program. I've never seen this take longer than a couple of minutes, usually a lot less.

Huh, I never thought about saving my layout. Thanks for the idea, Syrus_Dante! I'll do that once I have my scripts all back how I had them. @SpottedKitty, yes, I've learned that the hard way. I usually do try to check the Task Manager before booting DS back up if I've shut down and starting back up. Something I have to do on occasion if I've done a lot of stuff and memory resources start slowing things down. I've found it best to shut down and then start back up again because doing New File doesn't always get rid of everything in memory. I admit to getting impatient sometimes and boot back up without checking. A habit I'll have to try and break.

Thanks. I'm still setting my scripts up again. I'll try saving my layout when I'm done in case DS hiccups again.
