Daz 4 Content Library nighmares
I've just taken the plunge from Daz 3 to Daz 4 and I'm losing my mind. I need some assistance please!
1) Why is content sorting such a nightmare from DS3? Examples:
- 'Category Move' just copying the file reference, not actually moving it, so I end up with 1 in the content library and 1 in 'Default'?
2) Dragging and dropping content just doesn't seem to work, if there's a category with the same name.
3) Some of my 'new content' is shown in 'Default' category and some of it is in 'Unassigned' within the 'Default' heading. WTF is this about? Why can't I just have ONE Unassigned Category for everything new, just like my beloved DS3.
Is it a database issue? I imported my old database from DS3 Advanced.
It seems like something in 'Content DB Maintenance' should help, but I cant find anything in the manual or forum.
Please help.

Correct. It doesn't merge the contents, unfortunately. Merging would have been a really handy feature to have.

I don't remember the exact reason offhand (perhaps it was dependent on whether or not it has metadata?) However it actually does work that way, it's nothing you did wrong during the import. Some content does it, some doesn't. I avoid this problem by making sure that before I install and categorize any new product, I first make sure the unassigned category is empty, and also right-click on some random category and select "Mark all content as seen" to clear the blue highlighting from the entire database. Then after installing the new product and scanning known directories for files, I can look for anything new in Unassigned AND any new blue highlighting that appears. It's futzy, but works for me and I'm used to it now. This may or may not work for you depending on personal preference and whether or not you need things to remain highlighted.

I must be missing something and it's not that I fear change :-) but I really can't see the benefit of this over simple dragging and dropping, as in DS3. I watched both of the video links kindly posted and that, too, seems like a 'clunky' way to do things over simply drag and drop.
Does anyone know if there's any plans to re-implement merging same-name categories? Seems like a shame it's gone.
Thank you!
