Another Question

I am installing Daz on a new computer and for the first time going through smart content and double clicking to install content. I went to the Documents folder to see how the folders were being places and there is no content folder, the only thing in My Daz Connect Library is a data folder with associated files and the other two folders have remain empty. (please see image) after installing Genesis Essentials and Genesis 2 Essentials and Aaron for Justin. So where are all the folders associated with these installs? Very confused as to what is going on here.

Now that I am getting stuff installed and I did check to make sure everything was done correctly and working. I have some files I am not sure I should be installing. I always get confused by this since Daz now includes many items in the program already. The image is three items I am not sure are necessary, oh and I don't use photoshop so really not sure about that goz one.

I did an open file location on one of the items and got this. You can see where these files installed and it's not to a content folder the previous version.

That's right - each product gets its own folder in the /Data/Cloud folder, but if you look at the Content Library pane DS will consolidate them into one, virtual Daz Connect folder.

Your "Library" folders are your content folders. If you are using connect, then that is all going into the Daz Connect Library.

Ok so what do I do with items that are manually installed, I no longer know where to put them now cause of this.

Oh and Richard I will want to know how to do that at some point. Really wish Daz would stop making so many changes like this, every year, everything I do is wrong cause of these changes, also makes my video's useless when I try to explain things to people.

How to do what? You are apparently isntalling with Connect, and DS does the consolidation automaticaly - it's not somethign you have to set up.

As for manual installs, those are handled as usual - unpack to the My Library folder, or whatever content directory you want to use - it's only content from Daz installed via Connect (that is, from within DS) that uses the folder-per-product system.

The My Library folder, gotcha, that is what I needed, with three folders to choose from and the connect installing in a manner I am not use to, it created confusion. I like to organize my folders so will probably uninstall what I have in there and start over with everything manually installed, it will make more sense to me. I noticed for the connect, none of the scripts are there like the RSSY Iray to 3Delight I bought is not listed anywhere.

And yes it was teh consolidation part I was going to ask you about and you answered that.

Thanks to both of you for the help

Aside from whether or not those three need to be installed I forgot to ask if the Dynamic Clothing plugin even works with these newer versions of Daz, I do still like some of the opitex items I have and would like to keep using them. I also have the plugin from the unmentionable place which I plan to use as well, and know that one will work.

Just stumbled on another file...SceneBuilderforDAZStudio...I have no idea where to install this.

  • I can’t help on the other 2, but the GoZ installer is to install the GoZ plugin for Zbrush. I would say if your using Zbrush, install it, otherwise you won’t need it.

Texture atlas and Image Editor in your initial image are labelled DS3, so not needeed for DS 4.

It still works, yes. However if you're using the 4.11 beta be aware that it has problem with some product saved in .daz format, which is the case for some older optitex content.

The current workaround is to install an older version of DS which can open them (4.10 general release usually can) and resave them in .duf format there, and then use the .duf version in 4.11

Ok great, I don't have the beta and those others I won't install. I just remember something else.

After I installed Daz I was looking around and noticed Animate2, this confused me as I did not purchase that, yet its there. I suspect it has to do with dfroce in some way, do I have full use of Animate2 ?

Animate 2 will be available for free for the first 30 days then becomes Animate Lite.
