Making G2-3 animation blocks worth with G8?

Is this even possible?  I can't get any of the older blocks I have work with a G8 figure.  I bought a g2-g3 converter but it doesn't seem to help any with regards to g8 figs.

P.S.  I can't even find any animation blocks for G8 males though there are several for females. Can female blocks be used for male figs?
