I can't seem to find how to get my ds to poen on a scene with the perspective view aimed upfront. Is there a way to make sure that when I shut down DS, it will save the current orientation of my views?

There's no direct way to save settings for the Perspective View (you can use a linked prop, via http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/elements/post_load_view_proxy_create/start ) Otherwise you'd have to set up a camera and set DS to load it on launch or File>New in Preferences
