moving belt down on military dress uniform

edited June 2019 in Product Suggestions

I was wondering if anything can be done about the otherwise quite good military dress uniform (for G3m and G2m), which has a belt that is too high up... https://www.daz3d.com/military-dress-uniform-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-2-male-s

Also if if would be possible to hide the buttons without leaving holes in the tunic.

A version with shoulder boards (or epaulettes) would be nice, too. Maybe some morphs for the shape of the cap.  Other than those things this is a nice, adaptable product, and good value. I particularly like the fact that versions are included for the two generations of figure that take the same texture.

    That belt placement raised a lot of comment when that product was released. There's no built-in way to move or hide the belt, but Redz provided some morphs to do it in this thread:

    Lol, you guys must be psychic. https://www.daz3d.com/blitz-girl-uniform-for-genesis-8-females

    Just a note to PAs who might see this. The vast majority of military dress and service uniforms don't have belts on the outside of the jacket. The belts are usually only for ceremonial (color guard, honor guard) or some type of special duty (guard duty, police). Aside from that, anyone who wears a military jacket for work or formal occasions has to do a lot of standing and sitting and a belt makes that really uncomfortable, plus wrinkles the jacket, plus it would be out of regulation. So on this uniform, the belt would be authorized as an option but probably wouldn't be worn for everyday use. (Disclaimer - I wasn't in WW2, so I can't say for sure)

    That being said, it looks like a great product and the belt looks removable, so that's good. Sorry if this sounded like a rant, it wasn't meant to be.

    That sounded encouraging. I tried downloading those morphs but they don't seem to appear in the parameters.
    EDIT: Oh, I see, it works, but only on the G3m version and not the G2m one.

    @giaour94_fdcc6cb22c The reason the morphs are not working for the GM2 version is that the pathway in the data folder for the GM2 version is different than the data pathway for the GM3 version. Its a relatively quick fix but as they are not my morphs I can't give you the corrected ones. However I can instruct you on how to fix them.

    I suggest using a program like Notepad ++

    First extract and place the morphs into the correct folder pathway: data\Bluebird 3D\Military Officer Uniform G2M\Military Officer Uniform G2M Coat\Morphs\RedzStudio\Military Officer belt morphs\

    Then once you have done that open your editor program and change the following 2 lines of code to the corrected pathways for the morphs to work in the GM2 version.

    "id" : "/data/Bluebird%203D/Military%20Officer%20Uniform/Military%20Officer%20Uniform%20Jacket/Morphs/RedzStudio/Military%20Officer%20Belt%20Morphs/Adjust%20belt%20down.dsf"

    TO

    "id" :  ""/data/Bluebird%203D/Military%20Officer%20Uniform%20G2M/Military%20Officer%20Uniform%20G2M%20Coat/Morphs/RedzStudio/Military%20Officer%20belt%20morphs/Adjust%20belt%20down.dsf"

    AND

    "parent" : "/data/Bluebird%203D/Military%20Officer%20Uniform/Military%20Officer%20Uniform%20Jacket/MOU%20Jacket_15014.dsf#MOU%20Jacket",

    TO

    "parent" : "/data/Bluebird%203D/Military%20Officer%20Uniform%20G2M/Military%20Officer%20Uniform%20G2M%20Coat/MOU%20Jacket_15014.dsf#MOU%20Jacket",

    After that you would just need to change the correct name of the morph for each to work. (eg. Adjust%20belt%20down.dsf"  to Belt%20thickness.dsf", ) and save the file as a copy (the originals are read only which won't allow you to just save it) overwriting the original while making sure you use the .dsf extension.

    I don't own the item but a friend of mine does and the morphs all worked correctly once I corrected the pathways of the morphs for him as he doesn't use GM3 at all.
