Vintage Police Uniform

I have a need for a vintage police uniform similar to this one.

Typical of the NYPD in, say, the 1940's.  There isn't one here that I can find.

  1. Anybody know if there's one available "out there?"  I don't really care what generation of male figure - I'll adapt.
  2. If not, anybody got an idea for something I could rework into the tunic?  The hat, pants and shoes could easily come from https://www.daz3d.com/h-c-police-uniform-for-genesis-3-male-s, and I don't mind doing a bit of work on the tunic's texture, etc, but would need something reasonably close to start with in terms of the mesh, since I'm not a good "asset editor."

I can use one even earlier, "Keystone Cops" era.

They were still wearing that uniform on the Car 54 TV show reruns I was watching recently and the show was set in NYC in 1959 I think.

This one for M4 has a neutral black uniform in the expansion set, maybe that could be used as a base for something:

Problem with that military uniform is that it has lapels and the traditional "V" shaped opening.  What may work for the requesting party is something more again to a Nehru suit (the type Blofeld or Dr. Evil might wear) or something similar to a chef's top.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Bill - Ah, good thoughts. Never would have thought of the “chef” approach. Thanks!

Some NYPD officers still wear them to funerals and such. I know “more modern” uniforms started to appear in the 50’s, but apparently there wasn’t “one and only one” uniform throughout that time, so different officers may have chosen to wear different togs. I wanted to use this uniform because it would clearly say to a modern-day person “this is in the past.”

It's the most common uniform I've seen in the old B&W shorts and cartoons predating the 50s by decades. I didn't know that it was still in use even today though and that the uniforms styles were mixed that long ago (I did notice in the last 10 years informal rag-bag looking military cargo pants style cuts and fabrics though without the creases and such ironed and others officers wearing the old fabrics and cuts with ironed in creases (more or less formal iron dress work clothing)).

There's an item for Genesis called Pusey Designs/Lab Coat/Short Lab Coat - it only has buttons up the right side but it's the right configuration otherwise.

Could this work, without the trench coat: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-lighthouse-keeper-for-genesis-8-males

Wow, Bill. I was curious about this thread because I've looked for double-breasted coats too. But when I followed your idea and came up with https://www.daz3d.com/chef-uniforms-for-genesis-2-male-s, I said OMG that's exactly the scarf I want for something else. It's perfect :) And the shirt is closer than most of the next best things. @rames44 I wound up using only the front panel from the Renderosity Rocketman jacket on my thing but I'm not crazy about it.

This dForce Chef outfit has the collar and double button, but the sleeves are rolled up. But there is an all black texture for it.
