Reusing a character

Hi -
I made all the details that I like to a character. How do I save that character to put them into each environment I want without having to recreate the character from scrath?
Thanks

Save as scene subset and next time you load a scene with your environment choose merge to add your scene subset

  • Can you not save it as an Actor preset?

Depends if they want them dressed etc

    if not then character preset

I want them dressed, hair and everything I did to them. I am creating 7 characters. Now I want to get what I created into the scene that I have open. I do not want to recreate each one (7) everytime I place them somewhere. This is fully dressed with hair and anything else.

    thank you

Scene subset will work for that. Just select the actor, likely the only thing in the scene, and save. I make VN's and I do this all the time.

I have basic undressed versions as a starting point for each character, all body morphs are applied at this stage, then when I decide a character will appear in the same clothes, makeup etc. in multiple images I load the base character and get it all set up and saved to a new file.

Disclaimer - I just started to learn Daz.  A more rudimentary approach I use when I want to have a stable of characters readily available for various future scenes and environments, I first create each character individually replete with whatever clothing and wearables I want to preserve.  I give the character a name and save it as a scene.   When I have a new environment, I find the character in Smart Content - Products - Saved Files, and **right** click on it and click on "Merge Into Scene".

You can also do this with primitives you design and create.

Saving as Scene Subset means you don't have to right-click and merge.
