    I'm sure the art winners are technically proficient and congratulations to them.

    My personal taste preference though is not pinup art. In fact, to me I feel that viewing pinup art is a personal choice and not something others should be forced to do without choosing to. In this case, viewing these pieces is inescapable as they are placed on a page most of us need to go to look at sales.

    I personally find the thong and tight shorts image to look really uncomfortable. Everyone has different tastes, but that was my reaction upon looking at that piece.

    What I would like to see is some sort of official statement on how the images are chosen this week does look as if the whole thing has gone a bit awry and looks extremely biased towards certain artists.

    I personally don't care what is picked. I'll continue doing the type of art I love to do whether it is picked or not.

    But that's just me.

    I don't feel it's my place to comment on what it picked by the judges and/or judging panel. It's a free contest for work made in a free software with content the store provides for free and for sale. I have no expectations of winning or feel that anything is owed to me.

    That said, I think the winners being displayed on the main store page are too suggestive to be displayed like that. Just because the buttocks being thrust out is wearing a thong doesn't make it more acceptable than being bare. Just my opinion.

    I don't think is bad someone wins more than once the same week if the images deserves it.
    But I do wonder if a guy's "butt in your face" has the slightest chance to be displayed in the store header the same way (twice a week?). :roll:

    I'm quite disappointed in the whole gallery thing... I can see why DAZ gave it up way back when... I thought it was supposed to be our BEST work??? People are throwing things in the gallery like there's no tomorrow... I don't believe WIPs are BEST work, and if it is, then I'd not like to see their worst work. I've been working for hours trying to weed through my best art to display... and it doesn't seem appreciated. It's hard to compete with 100s of renders being added per hour that are duplicates and not even BEST works. I also DON"T think a series of renders should be added as BEST... PICK ONEEEEEEEEE for goodness sake and live with it. Seeing the same background 20times with different poses isn't going to make me like your work any better... In fact.. It reeeeeeally turns me off to the artist. Boy I'm a stinker these days... lol... anyway.. another of MY opinions.. for what it's worth. Happy Holidays everyone.. ho ho ho.. and all!

    what i would like to see is some sort of official statement on how the images were chosen for the FIRST ROUND of the gallery contest. one of the criteria for being eligible in the contest is to list content used. one of the winners in the first round had no contents listed. http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/260

    with all the images uploaded, it would be very time consuming for daz to separate all the eligible entries from the noneligible ones. but they don't have to do that. all they have to do is just check the eligibility criteria on the possible winners.

    this does not appear to be a well structured contest. not because of opinion of what is great art or who deserves to win, but on facts and criteria set forth by those running this contest.

    the "best work" part is the criteria for eligibility into the weekly contest. (edit: or that's how i interpret it. daz seems to interpret their contest differently)

    When I see that the rules are to "Start a gallery and fill it with your very best renders" it means... Start a gallery... and it should have your BEST renders in it..! Not WIPs.. Not a SERIES of renders... your BEST work only!!!

    ahhh ...... but at the top of the box in big letters it says "gallery contest" .

    some people are just putting stuff in their gallery not necessarily for the contest, as i've seen non-3d work uploaded here such as http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/6281

    i don't think there's any rules that say what you upload into your gallery even have to be made with a 3d software. this just won't be eligible for the contest. but who know? maybe a judge will pick it. lol.

    If the purpose of the gallery from DAZ's viewpoint is to identify products, they should get software that won't let the image be added without stating at least two products used. That would slow down the spammers.

    Since Daz is providing us with ONLY ... ONE... Gallery... as I stated... and it shows in the box... FILL IT WITH YOUR BEST.... RENDERS... Not drawings... not fractals.. RENDERS!!! I agree Expl... that DRAWING should NOT be in the gallery.. it was not RENDERED... But without someone monitoring the gallery... it's still a free for all!!! :( People don't read or listen to the rules... or interpret and twist the rules to their own way of thinking.. to me it's plain and simple... MAKE A GALLERY... and... FILL IT WITH YOUR... BEST... RENDERS! And that is what I will continue to do with mine :) Happy Holidays!

    what you are quoting is in a box titled "gallery CONTEST" not "gallery" in general. yes, there is only one gallery, but the criteria for best renders are for your own advantage in the contest. for the contest, not general display in the gallery.

    at the bottom of this post after all my yapping, there is another screen shot. this is about the gallery in general. it says "upload, organize, and share your renders with ease". it says nothing about "best" renders. my previous screen shot was about the contest. that was the one that mentioned "best render"

    although this screen shot also mention "tag images to show what you used to create them". but since one of the winners in the first round of the gallery contest did not list any content used, and daz still picked it for a winner, it indicates the lack of relevance or importance of content listing.

    i think you misinterpreted what i wrote before. i never said that drawings should not be in the gallery. the reason i mentioned that drawing was to show that we are allowed a broad range of uploading whatever we want as long as it does not violate the terms of service.


    People don't read or listen to the rules... or interpret and twist the rules to their own way of thinking...

    um .... since you and i are not seeing eye to eye on this ... you do realize you've just described us, right? lol

    lol.. yep.. that's us Expl... oh well.. I'm gonna continue to upload only my BEST renders... You do what you wish... Until someone makes some rules, which I doubt they will.. people will do as they please.. I just wanted to make my opinion known... didn't mean to start an argument..     In case you wonder why only two of the three winners are displayed this week and a tip for those interested in seeing their renders displayed among the other winners: Do girls, even better if they are showing their butt to the viewer. Don’t do guys.

    Probably because its just a close up of an arm texture (a "skin study"), or simply because its a new thing. I don't judge them for giving or not the same treatment to all winners. Its their site.
    What I'm saying is, 2 girls are displayed and the guy is not, and 3 girls the past week. So the recommendation is, if you care about it, do girls.

    I've noticed a trend that winning renders tend to depict female characters, and usually (but not always) youthful beautiful women.

    Sorry to be an idiot, but was there an announcement on 1st, 2nd, third? How do we know what placed where?
