Versions of Victoria?
So Victoria is free in all her incarnations. But is there any reason to get a Victoria 3, for example, when there is a Victoria 8? Is 8 all that a 3 could be and more? Or are there instances when a 3 figure can do things an 8 can't? (I've never figured out their numbering system.)

Content is specific to the version for Victoria 3 and 4 (there are converters for some things). Each has its own shape and textures
You can also check out the Daz 3D Human Figures History thread which has full information on how the versions progressed over time.
If you are a new user, I would say no. I have all versions of Victoria and I rarely go back to older versions when I start using newer ones.
Other than bend like a soda straw? No.
Since it's free right now, I would "purchase" all Victorias, but only download the ones you intend to work with. If at any point in the future you decide to work with an older model for some reason, you'll have her available for download in your product library.
I use Poser 6 still because it works the Vue that I have. So V3 and M3 are what I use in my Vue scenes, because Poser 6.
Each version of Victoria is pretty much its own model and skeleton with its own assets to use. Watch YouTube videos to see which rendering apps are using which 3D figures for its scenes. Then decide from there, depending on your style of rendering that you prefer.
