Also...help help I don't know what to dooo! *flails arms wildly about*

I've recently gotten a lovely new laptop due to my old faithful computer kicking the bucket. It's a gaming laptop so it's good lots of ram and a good graphics card...also Windows 8 which I love! (Really i don't get the hate for that program it's a fun version of windows)

I was playing lots of games for a while, enjoying the improved graphics and such...but then I got that itch, that artistic itch to get back into the Daz of things.

But I'm at a loss here. I believe my copy of Daz deluxe is Daz 3.0. How well does that run on Windows 8?

Then there is the metric ton of content I have. Some of it I have on disks..but...I guess they don't have a way to load everything at once right?

Oh man this is going to take months. O_O

I guess my big question is, as a Windows 8 user is there anything I need to be aware of with Daz and it's products.

You could download the newest version of DS, which is DS 4.6. ( http://www.daz3d.com/products/daz-studio/daz-studio-what-is-daz-studio ) and then also download the DIM (Daz Install Manager). Then having installed to DIM you can then set it to download all your content again , and then set it to install it all for you. http://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

You will need to place it in the cart and purchase it(it's free at the moment) as Daz Studio Pro 4.6(your Daz Studio 3 serial will not work, it's a complete different program)) from the store than you can download DIM and register it.

Your welcome and yes Generation 3 and 4 figures work excellently in this version.

You might want to pick up the plugins(Content Creator, Atlas, Photoshop bridge, Goz and FBX exporter) what ever is relevant for 6.95 each, you get both versions for Studio 4.6 and Studio 3 if you run both versions on your machine( except Content Creator) it's quite handy.

If you already have them then don't worry the serials will work from your existing account

    http://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models-and-content

they are in the Free category however they are paid for at the moment.

    Thanks that's great!

I'm kinda on the fence about the installer, reading the feedback on the forums it seems to be kinda touchy. I may just slug this out the hard way.

I see that many of the old, old, oooold content that I have is now in zip format. Can I install that in the old way? Just dump it the proper content folder and get Daz to find it?

Hmm also just looking through my old stuff I see the M4Base has these download options:

    Michael 4 Base
    Michael 4 Base StudioCF
    Michael 4 Base PowerLoader
    Michael 4 Base Puppeteer StudioCF

I can't for the life of me remember what the StudioCF stuff was for. o_O

You don't have to use DIM however you should try it as it's the system that is being implemented.

The instruction page is quite extensive so read it before you use it and it should work as well as advertised.

Good luck and enjoy, in my opinion version 4.6 is an excellent program.
