Making maps solid to export as an object

Is it possible to use a skin/map etc to create changes to the mesh in order to export as an object? As an example Pix Zharien HD for Genesis 8 Female has robotic arms, when rendered as picture they look 3 dimemsional . . but if export figure as OBJ they are just her arms . .other clothing also does this as when the texture is applied looks good but exports as a plain garment. I wish to find a way that the yetures sculpt into the object any ideas?

Try increasing the View SubD Level in the Parameters pane to match the render SubD Level and I think you will get the full effect in the export - it doesn't mention displaement and it does mention HD in the What's Included. Normally the viewport uses a lower level of division than the render, so you don't see the detail (or get it in exports). Of coruse this may hae an impact on how you can use the exported OBJ (not, for example, to create morphs).
Thanks Richard Haseltime, that worked. Can the same be done for skins? e.g. when I load Syph and Bodysuit for Genesis 8 Female, and apply the Mech Skin, it appears flat on screen and when saved as OBJ file. If rendered it looks 3 dimensional . .so how can I use the map or base bmp to make it look sculpted into base model?
That is because the Iray (or even 3Delight) materials support far more settings, some mapped and some not, than the very primitive materials in OBJ. You would need to rebuild the materials in the destination application. From your description I suspect a normal map will be involved
