Python coil pose or other snake pose that could work?

 I need to have two snakes coiling around an objects - similar to the medical logo. The only thing I can think of is a rattle snake coiled up to make the two look like they are looking at one another. The middle object would be wider than the staff of hermesmedical logo.

When I try to make the python coil - it either deforms or just goes nuts. Suggestions please. The snakes would coil around a log.
