Can't enter an image in Translucency Color channel

Somehow, one of my G3 figures has lost the ability to accept an image map in her Translucency Channel property - I just see a big box with a color picker, not the little drop-down box on the left with an image picker. If I load the same character from scratch it appears as it should. Is there any way to reinstate it?

Do they still both show the same shader as in use, at top-left of the Editor tab of the Surfaces pane?

Yeah, it's the Iray Uber shader in both cases. I tried applying the Iray Uber base script to see if it reinstated the image, but no joy.

How about if you apply a different shader, then reapply the original materials?

In the end I merged in a previously saved copy of the figure that still had her surfaces intact, copied the pose (and a d-former, and some d-forced assets) to the replacement and carried on. Since there doesn't appear to be a simple way to restore the image channel, that was the quickest way to get going again.

I'm in the middle of a big render now, but when it stops I might do some more experiments. I'm thinking maybe save the broken figure as an uncompressed scene subset, then go at the file with a text editor to see if I can put the image back that way - but it'll be purely for the sake of interest, my (not particularly) fast and dirty fix sorted the immediate issue.

I've encountered the same issue in the past, and the fix Richard suggested in his post is what worked for me.
Just copy the materials from the original, apply a different shader, reapply the Uber shader, then paste the materials.
This should restore the missing image map arrow, at least it did for me.
