Strand based dForce hair ?

This has appeared in the store today but I'm not exactly sure what it is. Do you get a strand based hair system built into Studio 4.11 without buying Look at my Hair or the other one ?  If it is, can you make your own hair in Studio by placing and styling the strands or do you have to create it in a modelling application, or in some specialised dForce hair creator ? Is there any documentation on this ?

Yes, DS 4.11 included a new feature allowing you to create strand-based hair inside DS. It’s an evolution of the Garibaldi hair system which used to be available as a plugin (rewritten and enhanced by DS team).

Thank you for the clarification. I've got the 4.11 beta installed, I'll have a look and see if I can work out how to use it.

Hair physics is a PA only feature. Because reasons.

Thank you for clearing that up. I've started experimenting with strand based hair. This explains why everytime I try to add a dForce modifier it says the hair doesn't have a valid mesh. I won't waste any more time trying to fix this.

Does anyone know if there are plans to make dForce strand based hair creation available to us lesser mortals? Maybe for a small fee?

    Greetings laugh

I have been experimenting with the new Strand Hair, and I'm running into a relatively big problem: While making straight hair and naturally curly hair is pretty easy, I can't find a way reasonable way to make curled hair with it.

The only way I can see is to manually curve the control splines into a spiral point by point for each curve. And honestly, that's a bit insane. Not to mention any attempt to comb it afterwards will lead to the curls being unmade.

This is the hairstyle I was attempting to reproduce:

Is there a practical way to do this or is it a hopeless situation? sad

I apologize if I'm hard to understand. English isn't my first language.

EDIT: Another question: Is there a way to comb the curves with X axis symmetry?

Did you ever find out if there are symmetry options for the strange based hair editor? I'm particularly interested for side-burns, as they should ideally have perfect symmetry.
