Front Projection Mapping

I learned 3D on Lightwave. In order to speed up render times, I would often just make a few planes or cubes in a scene and texture them with a "Front Projection Map". This way I could fake geometry and shadows in the foreground and background.
Is there an easy way to do something similar to front projection mapping in Daz?

For 3Delight you could look at the Shades of Life shaders, for Iray you could use Decals (though you'd need to do some prep work on the base surface then).
